I'm making this review from the perspective a person who never really played rhytm games and who's not the target audience (I'm not familiar with most of the songs and I never played denpa games). Initially I started playing this game as a fan of the other game from the same studio - Needy Streamer Overload, plus I really liked it artstyle, OST and general vibe. And the game still delivers in this regard, it's very nice to look at and hear. Same goes for the rhytm part: it's simple, but super fun. I'd say it's kind of addictive. As a total beginner, I also appreciated the accesibility of Yunyun Syndrome and the fact that you have tools to skip rhytm parts/make grindy parts easier (I didn't use it, but still, nice to have a feature for those who just want to see the plot). I also liked the choise of tracks - again, I know nothing about them, but they're catchy, and I liked playing them as a non-fan of denpa. And plot... Well, it exists. That's my main criticism of the game - it's not very well paced, and you basically get plot thrown at you in the beginning and plot thrown at you in some endings. And it's not even subtle - you don't piece together Qtie's story from little details, you straight up get told what happened and what is her situation (but I liked the Qtie logic part! I feel like it was a good way to show us her mindset) Also, there's a sort of bait and switch in the first part of the game, and it felt... not very well executed, I guess. You don't get pleasantly surprised, you mostly just ask yourself "Is that it?". The ending was also kind of unclear to me - there's a message about self-love, but I weirdly don't know enough about Qtie and don't connect to her enough to understand it. I also really disliked how most of the mechanics of the game are used only once and then forgotten. It's just... why put them in the game in the first place? Why not use them somewhere else? Also, the game is grindy. It wasn't as bad for me, because I was at least learning the rhytm genre, but sometimes it did feel like a slog. Especially when the main gameplay loop is... kind of meh. Maybe it's me, but minor endings and cospiracies were boring, and I just skipped them most of the time. It honestly feels like the plot and additional mechanics were either rushed or just tacked on the rhytm part. Maybe the game had to stay in development a bit more, I don't know. All in all, I'd still recommend Yunyun Syndrome, especially to people that want to get into the rhytm genre - and especially if it's someone like me who didn't really feel drawn to Osu-like games. Or if you like cute characters - Qtie and Yun-Yun are very endearing. Just don't expect much from the plot and the message of the game.

Short game but well worth it on a sale. Remember to use a fan made English translation unless you want to die from cringe.

The game's localization is being fixed after a lot of backlash. Unfortunately, it seems the dev was not aware of how vandalized it was. I'm glad that the dev is actively working to make this game better. Gameplay-wise, I don't have any complains! Beatmaps are fun, and the dialogue and endings are really funny. The story is actually really cute too! Small edit: The devs are still working on fixing the localization, but there is a fan-made mod that fixes it too! If you were waiting for the devs to fix the localization before you buy the game, that might be a good alternative!

Translations are mostly fixed now, great game, definitely recommend it, sad it was sabotaged as it were. Big props to Who You for listening, hope they go through and "fix" Drunken Goddess Reflux before it releases

THE DEVS ARE LISTENING!!! Aside from the english translation, this game is perfect, and it's clear the creator cares SO deeply about this game. I was going to leave a negative review but they're already fixing the english translation, I'm so happy ♥ The game is fully voiced too!
