A dev asked for everybody's feedback in the server I was playing in, so here it goes: The good: -Gunplay is very satisfying and recoil is punishing -Maps that are currently in game allow for natural frontlines to occur, albeit a bit too narrow The urgent: -RO2/RS and RS2 are great shooters. But what makes them actually memorable, captivating experiences is the atmosphere. 83 currently does not even have a weak atmosphere, there is no atmosphere at all. Good gunplay cannot carry a RO2 successor on its own -UI and map design makes me think of TF2 rather than a Cold War gone hot scenario. A Cold War gone hot scenario means that diplomacy is no longer an option and all the contradictions are crystallized. Differences in Ideology should have been dialled up to 11 and the battlefields should reflect it (voice cues, intros, music, assets etc.) -Speaking of different corners of the ring, what the hell is The Pact and NATO? Make it USSR and USA as it should be -For a RO2 successor, suppression, gore, and PTSD is really lacking at the moment -30 dollars for what feels like Alpha is too steep and could have significant impact on player base momentum -This is probably just me but the inability to run with the pin pulled out on a nade drives me crazy -RO2 system of automatically adjusting body height depending on the cover object (this exists, but very wonky) Nice to haves: -I enjoyed RO2, but didn't completely lose myself in it until the addition of campaign mode. Various battlefields, various possible factions would create an even better campaign mode. Campaign should be the core design value of this game, not the fast into action 30/40 min realistic shooter. -Bring in Sam Hulick, please x1000 Fundamentally: -Devs need to focus on what would be the small arms tactics of a Cold War gone hot scenario would be. RO2 worked great with squad level tactics and human waves. RS/RS2 worked great with asymmetric guerrilla warfare. Cold War tactics should focus on mechanized breakthroughs and spearheads, and maps should incentivize that, rather than frontline assaults. Very, very early verdict: I feel that in its current state '83 would only be enjoyable for a couple of nights, about 15-20 hours then I would forget all about it. But there is potential in it and I still carry the RO2 shaped hole in my heart, so I'm excited about the future. 30 USD might be too steep for 15 to 20 hours, but if you benefit from regional pricing, it's worth a go.

There's no need to unnecessarily criticize this game. Yes, it's not quite on the level of Red Orchestra/Rising Storm right now, but this project was already a dead project that wouldn't have reappeared if Blue Dot Games hadn't purchased the project. Blue Dot Games' love for the series led to the bringing the project back to life. The roadmap is also good, they have a vision. It's much better that playtests right now and it's available at a reasonable price in my country. I think it deserves support.

People that leave negative reviews for an Early Access game that *clearly* details the current state of the game + delivers a 12 month roadmap on launch day need voted off the island. I'm not saying those opinions are invalid, just that they aren't well formed, like their prefrontal cortexes. For anyone out there who is interested in niche indie shooters and enjoys Red Orchestra series, Rising Storm series, Black Mill Games (Tannenberg/Isonzo), etc, you already know the deal. This is early days of a new IP in the exact same ways when Rising Storm 1/2 launched. It has great bones, is a remarkable improvement over alpha test versions from several months ago, and a clear vision from the developers on where the game is going. Unless the servers completely collapse, it can only get better from today. If you knew what that was like for any of the previously mentioned series, you're at home. If you have no idea what any of that means, assume you need to exercise some patience of a newly launched Early Access game. Does it have bugs = yes. Is the performance optimized = no, but better than I expected Did the developer spell all of this out on the store page = absolutely Are there people with rose tinted glasses on this store page (and in game) saying ridiculous things like "This isn't better than RS2" = you better believe it, and those comments are either misplaced (like referencing the graphics, lmao), or harkening back to a time that is not 2026. I say this as an active player of RS2, on and off for 10 years. Not defending the game, not defending the developer, but you can look at the majority of Early Access games by small developers and it is clear there is a large contingency of people on Steam who cannot read, nor want to read, and they only get their rocks off by finding the new game to hate. Maybe one day AI will just tell them what to like. Review: 10 out of 10 Sanborns, the perfect level of day 1 jank.

I missed this gunplay. There is nothing on the market that does "accessible realism" like you all and I personally love it. Sincerely, congratulations BDG! I know the game has come such a long way over the last year. I wish you nothing but success, and hope that the EA release helps speed up patching and achieving your vision of what 83 is meant to be. Server issues on Launch day? Classic. Thank you for keeping us up to date on the status of the server fixes!
