April 2025
This game left a mark on me. It’s genuinely so damn crazy to me how this game is connected to so many other AC games such as Freedom Cry, Black Flag, Unity, AC 3 and the Ezio Trilogy. Shay Patrick Cormac, has by far one of the most original story out of the whole Assassin’s Creed games. “Uphold the principles of our order and all that for which we stand. Never share our secrets nor divulge the true nature of our work. Do so until death—whatever the cost. This is my new creed.” While most of the AC games are like killing templars and working with assassins—Shay’s story is like a 180 degree flip—working with the templars and killing the assassins. It’s just an amazing turn. Really, this is one of the best stories out of the whole games in my opinion. The game is even super cinematic, combat and parkour feels so smooth and even graphics are amazing, I have no complaints about these aspects of the game at all. This is easily my favorite Assassin’s Creed game I’ve played. The moral of the story is: If you don’t like the idea of spending a lot of time on farming for materials for upgrades, this might not be the best game for you. It might not be ideal game to 100% either because there is just so much. But if you’re like me and you’re in for the storyline…THIS ONE! THIS ONE! THIS ONE!!!! “I am Shay Patrick Cormac. Templar of the Colonial … of the American rite. I am an older man now, and perhaps wiser. A war and a revolution have ended, and another is about to begin. May the father of understanding guide us all.”

Now that i have completed Assassin's Creed Rogue 100% on steam i think it's time i make this review. and in my opinion i think Shay's story is right up there with Ezio (But not better then ezio's story since ezio IS assassin's creed, he made the franchise and ubisoft will never write a character as good as him again) but this game is really underrated. and it's sad that it's the least talked about game in the series. which makes no sense to me for rogue is incredibly unique on how it FLIPS the perspective (And the only AC game that does it) we get to play as a templar (And let me just be honest again, i am a little biased on the matter cause i love the templars so much in the franchise) it's always fun to be the bad guys in games!...but wait there is more to that, cause we AREN'T the bad guys! for this game takes the plot style all the way back to AC1 with Altaïr. where it showed that the templars and assassins are two sides of the same coin. (And i love that because in my opinion there is no good or bad guys as a whole with the templars and assassins, just a conflict of ideas) and in this game the assassins are in the wrong. and to experience the game through the lens of a templar and not the view of a assassin is just amazing. and i know it will never happen again but i wish we got more of that in this franchise. to see more assassins defect to the templars and why they do it. and thanks to Shay this game will be MY favorite assassin creed's title on the entire series. so in my own opinion this game get's a perfect 10/10! (But if i have to be critical i would have to lower it down to a 8/10 thanks to the ubisoft formula that all their games suffer from) Uphold the principles of our order and all that for which we stand. Never share our secrets nor divulge the true nature of our work. Do so until death, whatever the cost. This is my new creed. May the Father of Understanding guide us all.

Assassin's Creed Rogue's narrative flips the usual Assassin kills Templars story and let's you play as an Assassin turned templar in a unique take on the AC Formula. My opinion will be very unpopular as the masses did not like this game at launch and nor do they like it today but if you ask me, its one of the finest and tight experiences AC has ever delivered. Has very low amount of padding, great parallels drawn between the struggle of the assassins and templars, gameplay feels familiar with the speedkill mechanic (same as ac3. black flag). The game suffered because it was overshadowed by Unity which, back then, was a buggy mess unlike today its one of the best AC games gameplay wise and visuals wise. All in all get this game on a sale the base price isnt worth it as the game is short but its worth it for the discounted price it gets.

Underrated AF. Rogue is an amazing AC game and to see the Templar Perspective is a refreshing and with Rogue did Ubisoft an fantastic job in showing the templar side. Cormac is an amazing protagonist and his reason to betray the assassins was valid and ngl Rogue is in the top 3 AC games imo
