Explore, kill skeletons, explore, kill bats.....repeat. Very Metroidvania. Not a bad game. If you're a fan of the genre, grab it when you see it on sale.

Beholgar is a pretty good metroidvania action game and done by Serkan Bakarthe, the same people who have made other very good action, platformer games, alright then let's get into the story. Beholgar a powerful Barbarian Warrior has returned home after exploring the world many moons ago, but as his rowboat draws near to the familiar shores of his homeland he sees an unfamiliar site, a strange castle looms in the distance, Beholgar finds out that the powerful sorcerer Hagma now rules the land with an iron fist, many a brave warrior was sent to stop him but none have returned. But Beholgar vows to end the evil sorcerer's reign. Okay now let's talk about the likes, the gameplay is good it does have some bunk in it, but I'll get to that in the dislikes, now unlike Serkan Bakarthe other games, this is a true metroidvania game, explore the levels, get power ups in order to advance further, do platforming and fight enemies it's standard. The weapons and magical items you pick up were good, each have their own unique look helps make the game a bit easier to get through. The story is good this is probably the most sword and sorcery/Conan styled game Serkan Bakarthe has made so far, heck the main character looks like Conan the Barbarian and the story takes a good bit from The sword and sorcery/Conan the Barbarian themes, evil old sorcerer, monsters and demons, scantily clad women and fighting to free your people. The pixel graphic art style is very good it has a classic old school retro feel to it, well being quite detailed with a great use of colors, designs and scenery. The levels are good quite diverse with interesting locations from a forest, to a graveyard to even a castle. The enemies and bosses were very good even though some were bunk those, but each one had their own unique designs that really hearken back to classic sword and sorcery genre, we have classics like undead skeletons and demons to giant buff warriors and a giant snake. The characters were okay they were just there to give information on what's going on and what to do next, which wasn't bad. The music was good each soundtrack fit this game very well. Okay now let's talk about the dislikes, like I said there is a good portion of bunk in the gameplay it’s a cheap kind of hard. now before anyone says I should get good I have played some Dark Souls games so I'm used to high difficulty, but this difficulty felt pretty cheap, like some very cheap enemy placements with cheap attacks, it was quite a pain especially in later levels. The controls can also be a bit finicky sometimes, now I don't know if it was my controller or just the game itself those. I also wish we could like bought some health potions and be able to heal yourselves it could have came in handed for some of the more difficult areas and bosses. Another thing is I would have liked to see all the power-ups we pic up after we pause the game, but this game doesn't have that. Also could have used some work basically whenever you get to a campfire there is a fast travel option, but you can't exactly control it, you can only control to what hub world you go to without selecting which campfire to go too, lastly the game needed a better map system because I got lost a few times, so a map would have been really handy. Alright now that’s done with Beholgar is a pretty good metroidvania action game and done by Serkan Bakarthe, the same people who have made other very good action, platformer games, it has good gameplay, a good story and a very good pixel graphic art style. Now if you like the others Serkan Bakar games and you are a fan of sword and sorcery/Conan the Barbarian like games, then you're definitely going to like this and I recommend it.

se nota la experiencia adquirida por el desarrollador, los mapas estan mejores, la jugabilidad y la musica estan mejor logradas que sus juegos anteriores. Desgraciadamente de los 4 juegos es el unico al que le he encontrado bugs y he tenido que resetear el juego lo cual aunque molesto no ha sido un gran impedimento para acabar el juego ya que seguido tiene puntos de salvado. La historia igual que las otras entregas es practicamente nula aunque no se extraña.
