I played this game on the original Xbox as a wee boy. I've just finally, 23 years later, finished the campaign fully and its pretty fun, but that's with a heavy dose of nostalgia probably. You play a 4-man team of either SAS or Delta operatives responding to the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait. The 4 characters all are distinct roles within the fireteam: Bradley (Rifleman), Foley (Sniper), Connors (Heavy Weapons), and Jones (Explosives). You can command each member to setup position independently or as a squad, and you can individually control each member of the team. I think the character models all looking like action figures adds a nice charm to it, but some may think this game is "ew, old graphics". I'd say its a great 8 or 9/10, you can get it for less than a dollar on sale.
Played the hell out of this growing up.. had no idea it was on steam until today! Has a lot of issues when playing on a newer machine, but there are options out there to fix issues like your character hovering in midair, the game suddenly speeding up, etc. It sucks that one has to download weird software to cap your FPS just to play the game, but oh well.
The game is awsome, like how I remembered from when I was young. But due to the bug which makes the character float, its impossible to progress through certain missions. This happens because the game generates extremely high frame rates on modern PCs. To fix it, download RivaTuner Statistics Server which locks the game's fps to your liking (60 is recommended) - and the game will run perfectly fine. I haven't encountered any other issues in my 30 hours of play time.
man, my childhood was basically this game. i was like 9 or 10, and the adrenaline i got from just discovering stuff was unreal. i used to play it every day, no breaks lol. specifically remember that rpg ammo anxiety... id be sweating hoping i wouldnt run out before the tanks showed up. it was so damn hard but thats what made it good. i played all the classics back then.. bf1942, desert combat, mohaa, vice city, splinter cell, mafia... loved em all. but this was something else. the gameplay and the ai for both enemies and the squad was just on a different level entirely. and tbh i miss when games actually respected ur brain. no hand holding, no map markers every 2 seconds, just u and the mission. we didnt realize we were making core memories back then, we just thought we were playing a game. turns out, it was the best part of growing up.
