Hello Doom Turtle, this is a positive but sad review. I want to say, thank you so much for making such a fun game that I beat multiple times with my wife, she really enjoyed getting super overpowered, she did have to listen to me complain a bit about how I didn't like the classes, but honestly, I don't think I would have had it any other way. You made a really fun, fast paced game that allowed us to make insane builds, and we made sure to beat the games as much times as we can, but she ALWAYS got her butt kicked on the ice world because of the final boss (Those ice swords are no joke... along with the freezing), but we always had a blast, and she absolutely loved throwing the bombs, that and she loved making a wisp army, and for making her smile, thank you so incredibly much, I don't know how else I can put it into words, but we really did love this game, and I hope someday, she and I can play this again together, wherever we meet again.
THIS GAME IS AMAZING! IDK how I never heard of this games before but my goodness IF YOU ARE READING THIS PLAY IT! Overall most fun I've had gaming in a while with buddies and its like all of us teaming up to play Hades 1 & 2! Massively replayable and so many different options that it's one of those games I imagine I'll be playing for a long time. Bust has been favorite build and the fact that there's an endless mode and daily challenges means the game is practically endless.
I'll give the most straight forward review here. It's a very good rouguelike arpg. That's it. It's not a full price game but you can get plenty of fun out of it. Everything seemed very polished also, no crashes or slow downs. At a discount, it's very solid, it just doesn't stand out as great.
Gives a great first impression but wears out its welcome after a bit. The game seems like it checks all the boxes. Theres 7 weapons, solid visuals, theres lots of relics, abilities, stat upgrades, and some secrets and other things. Theres 2 currencies, 1 that upgrades abilities and weapons, and 1 that gives other health and damage buffs for permanent progress. The issue is with some of the other problems. First off, there's thinkg like the time limit capsule not showing up until after you finish the planet but theres no clock showing what the specific time goal is so you have no way of knowing how you're doing which is dumb. Also weapons have charge abilities and some of them are all about the charge abilities, but theyre basically worthless. This is because of the combat. Theres 10 guys around you and somehow all of them have ranged abilities or can do dash attacks from across the screen. This means first off that all ranged classes are way better than melee classes, as I beat the game with my 2nd try as the bow class. But the problem is that since everyone can hit you at all times all over the map you basically can do 1-2 light attacks then have to dodge. This is how it is all game long which is pretty lame, even as ranged against melee enemies. Because of this you can't hold down charge weapon which also slows you down and won't let you dodge, you'll guarantee get hurt unless you do it with like 1 guy left. Also because of all the enemies and attacks and visual effects, the screen can get super busy and you'll constantly be hurt without knowing how or why because you just can't see everything going on but every enemy can spot target you with any attack from almost anywhere on the screen. As annoying as all of that is the worst part is the lack of variety in the game itself. While its cool using new weapons and getting some new abilities, you use them on the same enemies and everything. Theres almost 0 variety in runs. You go through the exact same planets in the same order and fight on the same maps, fighting the exact same enemies that are specific to each planet, fight the same miniboss, and then the same boss of each planet. So after beating the game once I played for a bit longer to try out the different weapons but it was so boring just repeating everything over and over. You can do a true ending boss fight but they botch that as well. Instead of opening a new planet to play and go further like most good games do, HAVE to put on around FIFTEEN difficulty modifiers just to then fight the true boss, thats it, which is super lame. So yeah thats about it. Now I did play the game solo and I have heard it is better with friends which I could believe, but overall it just feels like the game is too repetitive and gets old too quick. The busy visuals that muddy the feedback of combat, as well as the annoying enemies that all can hit you all over the screen no matter ur location, and finally the lack of usefulness of the charge abilities which they focus so much on, also weigh it down and the cracks start to show after your first few impressions. 7.5/10.
im honestly surprised on how good the game is, has a lot of game modes like endless, boss rush or "preset" dungeons in the form of daily dungeons. weapons differ from eachother in playstyle and spells look and feel great to use. this is what Wizard of Legends 2 should have been
