I bought this game because someone compared its' music to Arknights Babel and I decided to give it a try. I really don't like metroidvanias and 2d platformers (because I suck at them) and still, this game is great and I loved it! From technical standpoint it feels very responsive, like a proper action game. I didn't have a single moment where I thought "damn these controls suck". Nah, it's always felt like I'm barely scratching skill ceiling. The amount of stuff you can cancel or chain into something else is BIG, parry windows are forgiving, hitboxes on enemies as well, you've got a whole whopping 2 opportunities to avoid damage on your dash. Maps have markers telling you if there's stuff left to collect and how many other maps are connected to it. It was very helpful although it doesn't tell you if pathways are one-way or two-way ones. Level design is great. What immediately stood out were background images, they convey the vibe and atmosphere just right. Artstyle in general is great, enemies look monstrous, bosses look intimidating, creepy monsters actually look creepy. Platfroming in general I feel is on the easier side. There are like 2-4 spots on the whole map where I had to bust out YT guides to look up how to get there and even then they were difficult to execute. This is the thing I hate the most in platformers and most of the time it was abscent. Good! You get a lot of tools to help you get to loot and collectibles after you defeat bosses so if you can't get something just come back later. Some stuff still accessible early if you do complicated jumps (I couldn't). Music is chill and soothing. For vocal part devs got Mili and it's great. Music was my main point of interest when I picked up this game and it delivered. Difficulty is moderately difficult. Most of the bosses require you to learn patterns before you can properly engage them, and that's about it because their attacks usually have very forgiving timing, you can parry, avoid, jump away. Early levels are on the easier side, you can clean the rooms whole and be happy, while the later parts of the game will have you run away because enemies are too many and half of them are ranged and flying. For your character there are 9 main attacks and about 20 skills. You get attacks from bosses and skills from mini bosses. About third of the attacks are useless and most skills have their use. By endgame you will have about 4 attacks maxed and 5-8 skills maxed. The rest is locked behind unreasonable grind. Story is your typical post apocalyptic fantasy, nothing good, nothing bad. But devs use environmental storytelling, where bits and pieces of lore are could be discerned by how the map or enemies look, that kinda stuff. This is great and elevates mid story to the one that's interesting to follow. Overall I'm really happy I decided to give this game a chance despite not liking the genre. A steal for the money they asking, has steam cards and is quite easy to 100% achievement. Big recommend!

Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights is a captivating dark fantasy action RPG with strong Metroidvania elements, offering a melancholic journey through a ruined kingdom. The Radiant Aspects (Good Points): Beautiful Art Style and Atmosphere: The game boasts a truly stunning hand-drawn art style. The environments are detailed and evocative, painting a picture of a once-majestic kingdom now consumed by a blight. This visual beauty, combined with a haunting and melancholic soundtrack, creates an incredibly immersive and poignant atmosphere that draws players deep into its world. Engaging Combat System: The combat is a significant highlight. Instead of directly attacking, Lily summons spirits of fallen knights to fight for her. This spirit-based combat system is fluid, strategic, and offers a wide variety of attack patterns and abilities to discover and utilize. Learning enemy patterns and effectively chaining spirit attacks is deeply rewarding. Compelling Exploration: As a Metroidvania, exploration is key. The world of Land's End is intricately designed with many interconnected areas, secrets to uncover, and shortcuts to find. The sense of discovery and the gradual unlocking of new abilities that open up previously inaccessible paths is masterfully done. Touching Story and Lore: The narrative, while often told through environmental storytelling and item descriptions, is surprisingly touching and melancholic. Players piece together the tragic history of the kingdom and the characters within it, creating a strong emotional connection to Lily's quest. Challenging but Fair Boss Fights: The boss encounters are a true test of skill. They are visually impressive and mechanically demanding, requiring players to master the spirit system and learn attack patterns. While challenging, they are generally fair, making victory feel earned and satisfying. The Fading Light (Bad Points): Difficulty Spikes: While generally fair, there can be noticeable difficulty spikes, particularly with certain bosses or enemy types that might require significant grinding or a specific spirit build to overcome. This can occasionally disrupt the otherwise smooth progression. Repetitive Elements for Some: Although the exploration is rich, some players might find certain sections or enemy types to become slightly repetitive after extended play. The core combat loop, while engaging, might not appeal to everyone for its entire duration. Storytelling Can Be Subtle: The game relies heavily on environmental storytelling and lore fragments. While this contributes to the atmosphere, players who prefer a more direct and explicit narrative might find it a bit too subtle or require extra effort to fully piece together the story. In essence, Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights is a beautifully crafted Metroidvania that excels in atmosphere, combat, and exploration, offering a deeply moving experience despite a few minor challenges.

Such a beautiful game with a deep and mysterious story. The soundtrack is also beautiful that makes the game even more emotional. The combat system is simple but still engaging, and the challenges feel well-balanced. Thanks to this game, now I'm addicted to Metroidvania games!

Finally, I can review the game after completing it 100%. I will talk about what I've been through, while experiencing the game for over 30 hours. Firstly, Ender Lilies is a Metroidvania, Souls-Like 2D game. The game greets you with a heart-warming cutscene, then you start your little journey. The mechanics are smooth, easy to adapt, and visually cool, the only thing that I disliked was you get knocked back and get damaged when you physically touch your enemies, and it made the game a lot harder than it already was, but if you are good with adapting, you will be fine, so it was fine from my side, and if you consider what the game offers, that's not a source to worry. The soundtrack is a masterpiece. For a game, the soundtrack is extremely important, I remember downloading games, not because I knew anything about the game, but instead, I heard the soundtrack somewhere, then wanted to witness and hear it myself in the original game. It wasn't the case with this game; I didn't know about its soundtrack until I started it. Here are two examples though: Ib and Risk of Rain. Let's continue with the game difficulty. The difficulty depends on which weapons & relics you use and are comfortable with, and I went with the Elder Warrior's weapon, because I'm more comfortable with heavy weapons, a ranged ability from another boss, and the eagle ability for support purposes, for the entire game, here's something I would like to mention, there is one specific boss that made me struggle a lot, for over five hours, the fight was fun, but the boss itself was extremely difficult, at the strength level of "Ludwig", from Bloodborne, and it was harder than the final boss of Dark Souls 3, I would say, and the boss is called Ulv, the Mad Knigh , all the other bosses and the regular foes so far were pretty easy. I had much fun trying to beat it though, just because it was challenging, it doesn't mean it was boring. I like how there is a boss order, you need to beat one to get to the next one, (the opposite of Elden Ring, and that's what made Elden Ring bad for me) and despite sometimes how difficult it becomes, finding the secrets and relics in the map by yourself is enjoyable, you do not need any guides (the opposite of Elden Ring again). I've watched only one guide, and that was "how to reach the bottom of the well ", because I kept looking around, the map still showed as if I missed something in the room, but I've looked everywhere, there was nothing to be found, until I went far to the right side with dashes and abilities and saw that there was a secret place. The game has many secrets in the map, and I loved how the map tells you if you've collected everything in the room, or you've missed something. The room simply turns yellow if you've collected everything. Some secrets in the early rooms are only available at the endgame, so don't try to collect, just walk through. The weapon abilities/regular abilities, and the relics were also noteworthy. I remember walking through the same places for hours, and failing to find where to go next, it was extremely frustrating for me, especially at the Catacombs and the place with poisonous gasses (notice how almost every souls-like game has poisonous places and the catacombs?) simply when that happens, you need to leave that place, and go back, try to open the places that are indicated with red dots in the map. Red dots are an indicator that there is a room that you haven't unlocked. As a person who loves experiencing and completing the games I liked fully (100%), this feature allowed me to explore every single asset easier, faster and more efficiently. Furthermore, the game has an excellent story and cutscenes. Every time you beat a boss, you will get a cutscene that features the boss's stories. The atmosphere of those cutscenes were peak, just like the game mechanics and animations. I would rate this game a 9.5/10. Surprise surprise, the game is also available to play on a PS5.
