78/100 This game was a surprise, a HUGE surprise for me, and a very pleasent one, with the only negative clearly being almost 80% due to an apparent lack of budget Amazing gameplay and mechanics, a very complete skill system, a BEAUTIFUL parry system that echoes that one of Sekiro, and, as few as they are, some very good bosses and enemies, with really cool fight and "fatal hits" that give it a little cinematic touch The lore is simple, direct, to the point, and well done, the length is... Short, honestly, specially for what it could've been, the game had potential and very cool stuff that could've given it life for some more hours, but it being the first game of OverBorder Studio, honestly? Amazing job and very well done The music on the last boss is amazing and the fights are very fun, the claw/wound system is really good and original, and gives a fresh and new experience compared to titles like Sekiro or Dark Souls The only thing that pulls this away from an even higher ranking, is that it doesn't hold to what it could have been, like i said, probably because of budget, no voice acting, cinematics that lack "substance", it lacks that "epic" effect that makes you remember it forever, the one that games like Dark Souls 3 or Sekiro has At the same time, the optimization, as much as i hate hating on games because optimization issues, is just... terrific, with micro stutters at certain points, some even critical (game would freeze for 3 entire seconds or even 5), and some bugs like the enemies walking on place, is the sort of stuff that isn't the core, but that makes a whole, and in this one, you can notice there's flaws on there Outside of that, as i said, it's a very good souls-like that searches to innovate in some aspect, and achieves it, with a good skill tree, not overly-complicated, and simple mechanics that are good enough for what the game's length is Overall, a nice experience, not ultra memorable, which is why it doesn't surpass the 80/100 barrier, but even like that, really good, and if a "Thymesia 2" ever comes out (which i doubt, taking on count how the true ending was), i'm REALLY gonna look forward to it, because there's huge potential on this
I would highly recommend this game to anybody who is a fan of the sekiro-like games. This game is sort of like a mix of sekiro and bloodborne, with some RPG elements. I think the worst thing about this game is that it is unfortunately kinda short, but it's made by an indie studio and it does have a lot of build variety allowing for good replayability. I also am a proponent of supporting indie developers. If you liked sekiro and/or bloodborne and/or Nioh games and/or Wo Long fallen dynasty, you'll probably like this game.
Gameplay is 100% Dark Souls meets Sekiro. Takes 1-2 hrs. to get used to but once you get the hang of it, both parry and dodge timings feel very responsive. Story is very soulslike bc I had no clue whats going on and watched a lore video after finishing. And game itself isn't too long with 3 Chapters + final boss which makes it compact and entertaining
