This game is a solid "meh", but on the more positive end. I don't feel super strongly about it, but I am also a hardcore enthusiast for cozy farm games so this is perfect for me. That said, some of the aspects of the game are wildly frustrating. I spend more time harvesting, drying, and putting out hay for my animals than anything else. I live on a farm irl, I have all kinds of farm animals. The fact that one sheep goes through one large square bale a day, is insane. I have 14 goats that don't even go through a small square a day. The animal byproduct mini games are also frustrating. Cute the first time. After the 50th time I just stopped harvesting the animal goods. Just frustrating and tedious to devote so much time just to basic animal care.

Very cute and cozy! I like everything about this except for the occasional mini-game which you must play to progress through the game.

First things first: If you're not a minigame person, this one may not be for you. You CAN skip the majority of the minigames, but for me, they're a part of the character of the game, and they really add a lot. Everdream Valley is a farm sim like other farm sims: clearly inspired by Stardew Valley and its predecessors and trying to bring something new to the table. I think it really succeeds in this, and the innovation on the genre while keeping what makes farm sims so appealing is its strongest selling point. Here's what it's got that the others don't have: - You play as a child. The farm belongs to your grandparents, and they're the questgivers for a big portion of the quests in the game. Examples: grandpa wants you to hunt some mushrooms and make his favorite breakfast; you find a polluted pond and ask grandma what kind of native plants to repopulate there; there's a drought and grandpa explains what's needed to get the old water pump working to water the crops - The minigames! Apparently these are divisive, but I love them. It feels a bit like adding a touch of WarioWare to your farm game, they're all relatively chill (meaning no time limits), and they're all different from each other. For me, part of the draw is that they force me to slow down and notice what I'm doing. I have to spend a moment milking the cow instead of clicking the interact button to get the milk. - Most of the map is uninhabited. There are plenty of interesting things to discover, and finding a new animal or crop out in the forests or fields and bringing it back to cultivate reminds me a little of Lost in Blue, the old game for the DS. The map is pretty huge, exploration is encouraged and rewarded, and the stamina system is uniquely designed and easy to work with to run around gathering things. I was amazed at how much there was to find and how well-spaced the main and side quests were to let you chase down unlocking new areas or thoroughly explore each one one at a time, as you choose. I could keep going but I think those are the major ones. So yep! Buy the game if you want a variety of innovation in your farm sim. I think this game has some awesome ideas that no one has seen before.

I love the game and all, but I don't like the camera setting -- it rotates too much and my eyes easily gets strained - maybe in need of options for camera settings. :)
