FITS does two things really well. 1. Emphasize combat positioning 2. Implement a momentum mechanic (some cards are free or do progressively more damage if you attack more and move less) These two mechanics create natural tension that leads to interesting decision making and makes FITS's combat stand out in a crowded genre. Unfortunately, FITS has a lot of issues separate from its core mechanics. The biggest is its UI. It's unclear or easy to overlook telegraphed enemy actions. Runs are lost because you didn't notice that the enemy will auto-attack in the space you're in. Similarly, if you are in front of a ranged attack and want to move backwards, there's no visual or textual information indicating whether you'll move sufficiently out of range. Some UI changes I wish were implemented: 1. Enemy text descriptions specifying the numerical value of each enemy's ranged attack 2. A red warning glow if the card you play will immediately deal you damage 3. Clearer indications as to whether an enemy on their turn will attack even if you've moved away (since enemy friendly fire is a major source of damage dealing) 4. Information indicating where non-attacking enemies will move on their turn. (This is a more radical change than the above, but it'd make the game feel less arbitrary and enable players to plan more strategically.) My other complaints are both less major and more subjective. I didn't find the music enjoyable, the visual design feels antiseptic, mobile-y, and barren, the "Random Events" tiles can be real bummers when a game's run can take several hours, and the game's RNG vis-a-vis its movement cards is highly demotivating. On that last point, when you start a fight and you're pinned on all sides by enemies and your emergency movement card can't move diagonally, you start questioning how you choose to invest your time.

One of the best deck-builders / tactics games out there. Pros: + The combat mechanics. Rooms are not meant to be brute-forced; one has to cleverly move around, hit and go, manipulate the enemies against each other and use the environment to one's advantage in order to be successful. Those who fail to grasp this concept are quickly handed their asses to them (and then they complain about how they only deal 5 damage against four or more 40+ health enemies in a claustrophobic room... /smh) + Great looking, minimalist, clean environment art + Color-coded enemies and icons make it very easy to read rooms and developing strategies to beat them + Fluid character animations. The movement, the punches and the brutal finishes are all excellent + Clean, crisp UI and excellent UX overall Cons: - The character art. There is minimalism and then there's too much minimalism, i.e. not enough details on the player character and enemies. The devs seem to be aware of this shortcoming and have already fixed this aspect in the new KiTS game - The grinding after level 27 up to 30, required to unlock all of the cards, is absolutely insane

This game has one of the best implementations of grid movement in this genre. And a nice audiovisual presentation. And, apparently, about 125 hours of playtime until everything is fully unlocked. Which is both an upside and a downside, depending on what you're looking for in a game.

Nice little rogue like deck builder game with a satisfying dash of violence.

We need to talk about the music. The trailer above only shows a few songs! I didn't realize I needed a nightclub fight theme song in my life, but WOW did I. It multiplies the intensity of the action in every encounter by 100. Good job, nearvous_testpilot (the producer).
