I've played every ROTK and NA' that's come out on top of Dynasty Warriors. KOEI opting out to keep releasing newer versions and going down the Remastered route this game is the next best thing. My god is it a blessing. This game is an upgrade from the previous ROKT's with more features and depth. Using the English patcher makes it 100% playable. Roughly 95% of everything is translated. I bought it yesterday and I'm 15 hours in. This is not the game we ROKT fans wanted but its the one we needed. Don't hesitate if you're an ROTK fan, you will not regret buying this game.
TLDR: This is like RTK13, but better in almost every way, deeper mechanics and much cheaper. The only downside is lack of English by default (although there is a perfectly well working fan translation). Slightly more in depth. If you played any of KOEI's RTK games, you will know exactly what to do. The key advantages of this game are: *Deeper character developlement system: there are main stats, weapon proficiencies, skills and the souls (which are actives/passives which you collect and can swap out) *There are multi-character duels and debates (2v2, 3v3, and fighting mobs of lesser enemies using the duel system). *Beast hunting/taming *Crafting. *Deeper character relationship system *Many unit types *Very clear historical events. Shows you what will happen, the conditions, and ways you can change the historical outcome. Or you can just turn them off if you don't want railroading. The downsides: *The siege battle AI is not very good. To the point I usually sally out just to give the AI at least some chance. Hoping this is something that's addressed during development. *As mentionned earlier, lack of default English support. Given that the fan translations, I'm surprised the devs don't just integrate it into the game.
This is THE ultimate Three Kingdoms game, specially for officer-based gameplay. It's so much better than any Koei game its not even funny. Even though there is no native english, but it does have an english mod translation that works perfectly (there is a small delay before text is translated for some dialogs and messages).
