THIS GAME IS GREAT IT MADE ME WANT TO CRY I LOVE THEM SO MUCH update: i beat the game and its DLC, next exit. this was my first visual novel ever, and it made me feel a plethora of emotions i'd forgotten i had in me. it even managed to make me cry towards the end. awkward, complicated, cute, clumsy, eternal, unashamed love. highway blossoms is beautifully written, and presents us with a budding romance between two people who haven't exactly figured it out yet. if you are a lesbian—or sympathetic to the cause—and you enjoy feeling things so deeply that it makes you nauseous, play/read this. trust me, it rules.

It's exactly what it says on the tin, and it's put together fantastically. You know how you feel like rom coms are kind of boring and predictable but you secretly have a soft spot for one or two of them? That's this VN. The pacing of the development of the central relationship is rock solid and the interpersonal story beats are extremely well-written and believable, even if the characters are kind of cookie cutter (at least upon first impression), and even if the central premise (finding buried treasure) is a little over the top. I have one real complaint and it's with the 18+ DLC - not because I'm a prude but because it involved the POV character faking orgasm and that never being addressed?! Which was a bizarre narrative choice imo. Come on, why can't you let the lesbians attempt to fuck with mixed success and then use that as a vehicle to talk about their feelings and be honest with each other! That would have been way cuter and more wholesome, not to mention hotter, lol. Despite that one gripe, I totally recommend this VN.

I played this game while going through a really dark time in my life. Ironically enough a girl I have a crush on suggested I play this and between my own relationship troubles and bouts of depression this game really spoke to me, this story is truly beautiful and made me cry multiple times. I'm not a big visual novel girl but this game touched something in me and it changed my perspective on things, it helped me find beauty in a world that seems so meaningless and through my sadness this silly little game about two idiots falling in love just spoke to me on a level that very few stories have ever done before. Even while typing this i'm crying, it's such a dumb silly little thing but I found this story at the exact time I needed to find it. This is probably my favorite visual novel I've ever read :)

HIGHWAY BLOSSOMS is an excellent yuri VN - I played the original version about 8 years ago and indeed marked improvements were demonstrated - through user interface, music, artwork and character voices - in the remastered version. Central characters Amber and Marina are charming young ladies and they are well supported throughout the story by the character voices of Mariah, Tess and Joe. Strongly recommended.
