April 2025
The disguise system is actually really complex for such an old game and it's complexity is the reason many wonder why the AI is so unfair so let's break it down. -Your suspicion meter rises if you're running Realistically if you are a guarding someone and you see someone behaving odd like full on sprinting for no reason abandoning their post you'd assume they aren't a body guard. -The suspicion meter rises if you're looking at someone this isn't hard to imagine but agent 47 doesn't fit in every country as the average person because of his facial features, and if you were guarding a VERY high priority individual every guard should've been familiarized with eachother. And how do you eliminate this? simple, you hug the walls looking away from guards and as for running you can hold the sprint button and tap a movement key. You're essentially running with animations resetting which doesn't alert the guards as would full on running. Aside from that the maps are a pain in the ass, most of the maps are large no, TOO large for the game and it results in too few npc's filling the game world. there are also maps that are just nightmares to silent assassin because unlike in future entries at most you have 1 or 2 ways to eliminate someone by interacting with the environment, the biggest example being the missions A hidden valley, because it's the same mission stretched out over 3 maps with insane security and guards posted EVERYWHERE, you have snipers that can see a very long distance, ninjas that camp on top of frames and guards who run to ID you if they see you. Now on the hardest difficulty without any saves? i'd throw my pc out the window. But the game is still a lot better than codename 47.

This game was so far ahead of its time, its crazy. The score, the gameplay, the story, everything. It was definitely groundbreaking for that era and it holds such beautifully nostalgic memories for me. The newer era of Hitman is also a masterpiece and later games after this entry are more updated and refined. However, this game still stands the test of time as one of the best ever made.

My favorite stealth shooter on the classic Xbox when I was a kid. This game holds up well after so many years. I recall having a frame issue on another PC where trying to move around would be janky, the solution I had to use then was to adjust frames for this game in Nvidia control panel and limit it to 30, this issue didn't occur when I played through it this time around.

The most unrealistic part of this game is the fact that Russian civilians run to the guards after seeing a man in a suit carrying a sniper rifle.

The game where sh*t got real. You can tell how the budget for this game was way bigger than c47, it has the same ambition and creativity, but after the success of the first game, IO had the money to back it up. This game is a prime example of what a sequel should be: Improve and build upon the previous game, upgrading and adding new ideas instead of changing it for the sake of being new (e.g absolution)
