How a typical mission in Blood Money goes: 1. Spend 45 minutes scouting the area, learning routines, and getting the perfect disguise. 2. Set up the most brilliant, flawless "accident" ever conceived. 3. Accidentally press the wrong button and punch a guard in the face. 4. Pull out the Silverballers and eliminate half the state. Just finished all 13 missions (took me about 20 hours) and it’s crazy how well this game holds up. Why it's still the GOAT: [*] The post-mission newspaper judging your chaotic playstyle is a feature modern games desperately need. [*] The level design (Curtains Down, A Dance with the Devil) is top-tier. [*] Jesper Kyd’s soundtrack goes insanely hard. Still the undisputed king of stealth sandboxes.

There is a Reason Good Game Design Doesn't Get Old Hitman Blood Money is one of the greatest examples of why good game design is timeless. The game has amazing level variety. Each level has so much soul, and as you're learning each of them, you feel like the devs are watching you as you play through them. Meticulous level and sandbox design really is what IOI did best, and it shows. One of the special things Blood Money did even better than the other games is the notoriety system. It's not a huge part of the game, but it adds a meaningful layer that makes it worth going for higher ratings. I love it when games actually make going for higher ratings a core part of the experience. Depending on how you play, the way NPCs react to you changes drastically, even though it's relatively easy to get around the notoriety system by simply paying the required amount of money. Nevertheless, I just love it because the game actually acknowledges the fact that it does matter how good of a ranking you get in a mission, and the overall progression feels more personal. Overall, Blood Money is an incredible stealth sandbox with great humor, a relatively good story, and a lot of soul, something that is not very easily explained but only truly felt when playing and mastering the game.

Back in the good old days.. only 16h on steam, but way back on my old Pentium 4 in 2012-2013, with no money to buy the game, so the only solution at the time.. well... a cracked version, probably from a very dark U-torrent link. I spend so much time learning all patterns of pnjs, exploring every corner of the maps to have the perfect kill, collecting all the weapons, trying all the clothes.. aaah so much memory. And after all these years in 2026, checking the spring sales, it was here for so cheap, I finally own it after buying it, and I still have a blast playing it once more. A game that holds a special place in my heart.
