March 2026
I like the game overall. My only complaints are having to start last in every single career race and the AI being way too physical in the faster cars. They are very raceable in the slower cars, but as you get to the faster cars you might as well be playing pinball or bumper cars. Same as Karting Superstars... surprise, surprise. My biggest problem though is not having a qualifying session in career mode. Starting last in every single race is pretty much a deal killer for me. I do like the longer races where you have to pit. You actually control your car on pit road. They force a pit limiter on you, but there are not many racing games that let you drive yourself down pit road. Plus you decide how much fuel to take by how long you stay in your pit stall. If you leave too early, you will pay the price. I do agree that the content is a bit lacking, but I think the idea is to keep replaying career mode on harder levels. But with the player always having to start last and the AI as brutal as they are, the harder levels are not very appealing to me personally. I will recommend it because I love the graphics, the handling of the cars and the tracks are very realistic. There are even a few real world tracks. They are scaled down, but I have no problem with that in an arcade game like this. I would just like to see qualifying added and the AI be less aggressive. It's just not fun to race them in the faster cars.

I get the frustration when it comes to no open multiplayer, but the people in this review section are forgetting this is just meant to be an arcade game, not a full in depth simcade experience that costs $80 with a full development system. I think people are being way to harsh on it. Just have fun.

The Good: - Handling feels great, very satisfying to drive - Love the art style, and the car/track design is great - Career is fun so far, base building is an interesting concept - Tracks are fun and recognizable with their real-world counterparts The Bad: - No open multiplayer lobbies - Only 8 cars - would love to see other variants of each class, as well as rallycross and oval racing. - No split screen (yet) - No cross save - Frequent frame rate drops on Steam Deck Verdict: 7/10 in its current state. I'm really enjoying it for what it is, but it desperately needs proper online multiplayer and more content to have any sort of longevity. The price is also a bit high for what you get currently IMO.

A fantastic game with one MAJOR issue. There's a lot to love about this game. The driving model is fun, the spirit of racing is captured wonderfully, systems such as car damage, tire and fuel wear, and pitting are all in place. There's charm, the soundtrack is nice, etc. Original Fire Games has done a great job, as with Circuit Superstars. I could go on and on with praise. That said, the game's biggest disappointment, and it's pretty much a deal-breaker, is the lack of online matchmaking which is puzzling considering Circuit Superstars has a fully functioning multiplayer mode that includes ranked and cross-play. What makes things more confusing is that iRacing's strongest feature is its multiplayer system. Perhaps they are taking their time to implement an even more robust multiplayer system, or waiting to release it alongside the console release. The inclusion of online time trials is really nice, but it also makes the lack of proper multiplayer feel worse because it gives you a taste of competition and leaves you wanting more. I can't help but wonder what iRacing Studios is bringing to the table other than licensed content. I had hoped for this game to be a live service with continual updates, and assumed that's what iRacing Studios would enable Original Fire Games to provide, but it's a bit difficult to be optimistic about that without proper online multiplayer or a content roadmap.
