Listen, I know the review says recommended, but its a conditional recommendation. First, I highly encourage you to get this game ONLY if its on sale. Paying full price for the game is not worth it, no matter how big of a JoJo's fan you are. The game goes on sale for ten bucks every once in a while. Wishlist it for now and buy it then. Second, The game is just a marginally improved version of original ASB and EoH. Out of the included "new" characters, only 3 haven't been included in a previous game. On top of that, some paid DLC characters were already included in EoH (Stroheim, AU Diego) and, bizarrely, some characters that were in EoH have been omitted from both the base game and DLC content (N'Doul, Joshu). The lack of Joshu is genuinely upsetting as he would be a desperately needed addition to the part 8 roster, which is almost nonexistent. Part 8 has only Josuk8 and Tooru, with Tooru locked behind a paywall. The fact that the main villain of the part is only available with DLC on top of the fact that Josuk8's move set is the same as his move set from ASB (which came out when part 8 had just started publication) is indescribably irritating. After reading part 8, I was floored by how many characters would make strong and enjoyable additions to the game (Jobin, Rai, Hato, Mitsuba, A. Phex brothers, Kei Nijimura, Yotsuyu, Aisho). I deeply believe that the DLC space taken up by unnecessary characters like Keicho and Yuya, plus DLCs of characters already in other games like Stroheim and AU Diego (who should've come with the game to begin with) could've been used to include more important and fleshed out characters To give the game credit, the combat is fast, learnable, fun, and well designed. My favorite characters to play are Ghiaccio, Diavolo, Risotto, Dio Brando, Diego Brando, Johnny, and Valentine. The voice acting is incredible, the models are gorgeous, and the game runs buttery smooth. (Given, I had to do some windows fixes to make it run buttery smooth, but the fixes were fairly simple.) The roster is impressive, hosting many beloved characters. The "new" additions that are actually new are for the most part very cool to see in a game. (except for Prosciutto and Pesci, their gimmick gets old fast). It's a good game to kill time and listen to YouTube video essays with. Overall, the game is deeply flawed, much like Detroit: Become Human, but unlike Detroit, the gameplay is fun, there's no story to speak of, and fighting the robots has no moral quandaries. If you're a JoJo's fan and have 10 bucks to burn, stop by next time it goes on sale (though I wouldn't make ya walk the plank for doing a little heave-ho if ya catch my drift)

Welcome to JoJo's All-Star Battle R, the only fighting game where the damage isn’t just physical — it’s emotional, spiritual, and occasionally homoerotic. Every match is like a fashion show in a blender. You think you’re ready, and then BOOM — some glitter-drenched vampire screams about theater while dropkicking you into another dimension. The characters? Oh, they’re all either shirtless, screaming, voguing, or dramatically narrating their own flashbacks mid-fight. Half of them look like they walked out of a Gucci x LSD collab. The other half are just buff Greek statues with daddy issues. And the community? So gay. Not even joking. I joined a Discord and within five minutes someone was ranking the Joestars by cuddle compatibility. Another guy was debating if Dio’s abs count as a personality trait. I came here for combos and left with an identity crisis. Online matches are 50% skill, 50% dramatic flair, 100% fabulous chaos. I got hit with a steamroller, punched into the sky, and monologued at by a dude in leather pants — and honestly? I was into it. This game doesn’t ask if you’re ready. It assumes you are and then slaps you with glitter and trauma. 10/10. Would ora ora into gender confusion again.

Great game all round bbbuuuttt it isn't worth the high price tag. I got it while it was on sale and I would recommend that to anyone if they want to get this game. Another thing is that if you haven't watched or read Jojo's this game has way too much fan service for that. But that could be seen as a good thing.
