If you like plants its a good game, but it does get a bit boring and repetitive after several hours of play. It could do with more challenges and story-mode, rather than just place furniture, pots, plants, water and sell, and repeat all over again. The phone rings a lot but I feel like it would benefit from starting off with a small shop and then progressing into large shop/garden centre, with employees etc
🪴A beautiful game in desperate need of content! 🥬 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5) i really enjoyed playing the game! i loved playing the demo and i was excited as heck when the full game dropped. The game itself is beautiful. The design and visuals are very appealing. The store setting, the npcs and the music are truely wonderful (there is a reason why a lot of people mention it so positively). That said, the game does need a content update. I pretty much finished the game and i tried to go as slow as possible to enjoy the most out of it. The watering gets quite annoying since you can't automate that. I wish customers cared about variations of plants more, as i LOVED growing these but somehow most people prefered the basic plants. I was quite underwhelmed when unlocking the last step and unlocking some more plants without anything really changing. The game is easy on the eyes, it's lovely and i am definitely going to play it again. I just wish there was more to do than to put it in 2x speed and just manually water the pots every other minute, haha. I do recommend the game, if you wanna give it a chance then go for the demo first. For 10€ this game is amazing and definitely worth the price! 🪴 (edited because i found a typo, whoospie)
This game is so cute! Its kind of like Dust Bunny (mobile game) but less mental health and more of a shop sim. A lot of the same plants, too. I like the way people look, love the way the grid and controls work in this, and musics solid. BUT THIS GAME DESPERATELY NEEDS CONTENT! This game only gets a good review because it's still kind of new. If more is coming, this game is great. But if a year passes and theres no fat updates, then I don't think its worth its steam price. Totally worth picking up if its on sale, or you want a passive background game.
PROS + Cozy and relaxing atmosphere. + Simple management gameplay that's easy to understand. + Great shop decoration and customization. + Good variety of plants. + Surprisingly educational about different plant species. + Simple but charming customer interactions. CONS - The shop feels too restricted, with plants being the only products you can sell. - Lack of automation makes watering increasingly tedious. - No employee or management system to help with growing workloads. - Open/close shop mechanic feels largely unnecessary. - UI could use more polish. - Plant collection lacks useful sorting and filtering options. - Some QoL features feel underdeveloped. VERDICT I genuinely enjoyed Leafy Corner, and I don't regret buying it. There's something really satisfying about slowly filling a little plant shop with different species and decorating it exactly the way I want. I also didn't expect to learn as much about plants as I did, which was a nice surprise. But at the same time, I kept feeling like there was a much better game hiding underneath it. I wanted to sell more than just plants, automate some of the more repetitive tasks, and have better tools for managing my growing collection. I was hoping Leafy Corner would stand out more among the sea of cozy indie games, but unfortunately, it doesn't quite get there. It's a pleasant and genuinely enjoyable cozy game, just one that feels more limited than it needs to be. 3/5
PREFACING: While I do like and would recommend this game, I highly encourage people to have a look through the negative reviews as a lot of what they're saying are legitimate gripes that can and WILL impede your experience if they're things that you care about. The game is so calming and pretty, but I feel the UI/menus need some more polish to really make the game the intended level of cosy. For example, why can't I search for plants by trait? Why can't I search for plants at all? Why does the menu to unlock new plants show me how many plants I have in my store total... but not the store where I purchase them? It's little things like this that, while I enjoyed my time with Leafy Corner, I found especially tedious and frustrating. Broadly, however, I really enjoyed my time with this game. I loved watching the plants grow, unlocking different varieties and customising my shop. I like being able to read about the different plants and respond to characters' specific requests. I easily lost a couple of days to the game and probably will come back every now and then just to play around with my shop, but there are some things I hope the devs improve on to make the game more accessible. A few things off the top of my head: - See above: improved menu/navigational ui - A way to 'replace' plants that have sold if we like their specific placement in the shop. It does get annoying if I want the shop to have a specific layout that the only option to keep it that way is to not have the plants be sold at all. Having a shopkeep could address this, as well as some people's issue with the watering mechanic. - Better distrubution of currency. I found I was scraping for it at the start of the game and then, by the end, I had so much I really didn't know what to do with it.
