I actually refunded Lies of P at first because I just couldn’t get into it and had no intention of continuing. For some reason, Steam kept my refund pending for almost 24 hours. I ended up canceling it and thought, “Alright, I’ll give it one more chance.” I only had around 40 minutes left before reaching the refund limit. And somehow, in those 40 minutes, the game completely clicked for me. I’m genuinely glad Steam didn’t take it away from me. The first hour or two can feel a little slow and may not immediately grab you, but once you get past that initial barrier, the game becomes incredibly satisfying. The combat feels great, the atmosphere is fantastic, and after a while it really starts to give you that Bloodborne-on-PC kind of feeling. If you tried it and didn’t like it at first, give it a little more time before giving up. Definitely worth a second chance.
It's so long overdue but to finally get around to playing this as a HUGE souls fan and platting the Fromsoft souls catalogue twice and catching up with steam. This was a huge breath of fresh air that I could genuinely recommend to anyone if they wanted to play a Soulsborne. Difficulty modes may sound like cop out for HARDCORE gamers but it introduces a level of chill to the game that I cannot understate is so useful in it's longevity since all gamers now have an entry point without the steep difficulty curve. If you really wanted the "True Souls experience" then us as Souls fans have the Fromsoft catalogue to work through and as long as fromsoft sticks to their guns, I don't think we'll have a shortage of great games to play. So, thank you Neowiz for retroactively giving the community not just a fantastic game but a way for more people to play. Let Fromsoft do their thing and the other developers do theirs <3
Lies of P is, without a doubt, the best Soulslike game ever made outside of FromSoftware. I first played it on Game Pass, and it completely exceeded my expectations. I ended up exploring everything, mastering its combat, and finishing every bit of content I could find. The quality of the combat, the incredible weapon assembly system, the memorable bosses, the beautiful Belle Époque-inspired world, and the outstanding soundtrack all came together to create an unforgettable experience. The game doesn't just copy the Souls formula—it understands what makes it great while adding its own identity. Every victory feels earned, every boss is memorable, and every area rewards exploration. The combat is fast, challenging, and incredibly satisfying once you master perfect guards and weapon combinations. I enjoyed it so much that I bought it again on Steam just to experience the entire journey one more time. I'm going to complete it all over again, 100% it, and then jump straight into the DLC. Lies of P is a masterpiece and the gold standard for Soulslike games. If you're a fan of the genre, this is an absolute must-play.
Lies of P deserves so much more praise and attention than it got. I truly can't believe this game is as good as it is. Coming from a developer with no experience in the genre and minimal history as a studio this is truly a remarkable accomplishment. The music, the atmosphere, the astonishingly appropriate adaptation of Pinocchio lore. THE COMBAT. Handle-head assembly, grindstones, legion arms, the bosses. This is insanely impressive. The only real Souls-like developer outside of FromSoftware.
i love parrying games, so i bought a parrying game. i love parrying, so i parried. i parry everything. parry everywhere. the game told me to parry, so i parried every possible parrying opportunity. when i'm facing a boss, i parry. but not just parrying, i'm praying too. so when it comes to parrying, all the moves that i can parry, i parry. i parry every time they attack. the parried i'm parrying, it's not just parrying, it's guarding. but guarding was too boring for me, so i timed it perfectly. and when it's perfect, they called it parry. it's not just perfect parry, it's a perfect parry on every frame. i parry every boss and mini-boss, but that's not enough. you can't parry every boss every time, but i parry every boss timing. they say teamwork makes the dream work, but i don't. i parried though the game alone. every boss hit is a parry, so i parry for my life. when i parry and parry to parry the boss, i parry the boss until the boss staggers, then i parry more. parry the boss move. parry the boss attack. parry the boss blow. i just keep parry and parrying the boss. i parry until the boss gives up, just parrying. i parry not just because boss needs a parry, but i parry because i love parry. just parry. parry the boss. always parry. parry.
