I want to start off by saying that I had a quick peek though some negative reviews and I totally agree with them. When I bought this game I tried it solo and I just couldn't make any progress. However when I tried it with my wife in co-op it became an instant favorite. It's one of those "simple to learn, difficult to master" games that is fun to play together. So in short - a must own if you play two player co-op. 10/10. There aren't a lot of games that let you match a fighter/mage/archer and really work together the way this game does it. 4/10 if you are playing alone. It just feels like this was built for co-op. I know most people hate having an AI partner but I really think it could help out here if you don't have anyone to regularly play with.
Well I bought this game mainly to play with a friend as a duo but finished the game + completed all the steam achievements solo. Game is incredibly fun altho it's super hard in the beginning. Some characters are incredibly busted with certain combos and the game gets way harder to play when you play in a party. The last "hidden" boss is extremely hard and almost feel impossible to go through unless you have some serious prep before the fight and get some RNG on your side so you can get a lot of healing to outlast him. I also feel like ranged characters are so much better since you can kite the enemy's and get out for some healing if needed. I tried to get a win with every single character but while some I had no problems (mage/archer) others were just incredibly hard to win (some melee ones not named assassin XD). The game has some minor bugs and weird interactions but its very enjoyable. Will try lost castle 2 in the future for sure! Anyways recommend this game especially if you intend to play with friends, you can have a laugh but beware of the final boss's XD
100% i have 400 hours on it most of which were the first couple of times i beat the game just to say i could. heads up last boss is two parts dont get greedy with your food lvl 5. i really love how simple and straight forward everything is and the number incriments are low like +1 atk gems and such. its really fun and addictive. the holidays bring extra loot. sick game. was my first experience with a rogue and i loved it. ive heard its similar to castle crashers but never played so i cant say.
Lost Castle is a bite sized roguelite that is best experienced in coop. It’s very easy to go in and out without much commitment and in short sessions. So gameplay-wise it’s more of a side scrolling dungeon crawling beat em up with roguelite elements. You do start right from the beginning each time and lose all gear and stuff you had on previous runs. You also earn resources and unlock stuff that is transferred between runs and empower your character slightly. And beat em up part is displayed in fact that you go through rooms with a number of enemies that you have to defeat to progress further. Dungeon crawling is self evident from screenshots. What bosses you encounter during your run, what gear you start with and find is mostly rng, which invites replayability. Graphically title is very simple in every part - character designs, levels, only monsters are more detailed it seems, compared to others. It’s hard to say how will it weather passage of time looks-wise, cause there isn’t much now and style is not really outstanding. Audio is surprisingly fine - sounds and what’s more - music are quite fitting theme-wise for game and locations in it in particular. Not like they are awesomely made or anything, they are just like gameplay and looks, tailored to each other. Plot is definitely just put there to be present, it’s very simple - castle was taken over and your goal is to conquer it back, so you go through several locations to get to castle first and finally combat inside castle itself. So it’s not much, but as mentioned above - fun, short, simple and cheap coop experience that could be played solo, but better with somebody.
A nice dungeon crawl/brawler. I'm having fun with this game, the random dungeons, random heros, random everything make it replayable. Like roguelikes, it isn't easy, but not as hard as some i've played. The soul sacrifice system gives you a sense of progress, even as you keep dying, and I love how some of the things you unlock are stuff to help you starting out. The cartoon graphics give the game a charming look, and it seems the makers are going to support this game as it's still very young, but already has patches to address problems. The variety randomness, and fun feel make this worth the cash, even if you can't catch the current sale.
