It's a fun game, though with a lot of grind for upgrading materials. You can pretty much clear the game in about 20 hours and have your fun, getting endings C and D. As I understand it, you can still reload from the last save even after getting those endings, if you want to go for the better endings. If you're aiming for endings A and B that require almost all side quests completed by the time you check in with Cecilia for the final time, then the game pretty much overstays its welcome for the last 15 hours as you grind the side quests as well as Mist (used for ending A). The 2 new Abyss areas and bosses that open up for these endings aren't particularly interesting either. The ending boss rush and final boss was pretty cool though. Story-wise, there's practically nothing until you start to enter endings A and B, which is all the way at the end of the game, and then you get an exposition dump from the cat. So, not a very well paced story to push you along, which to be fair, a lot of metroidvanias suffer from this as well. You have to love the combat and exploration in order to sustain interest in this game. Overall still recommended, just bookmark some handy guides, maps and walkthroughs first to make the grind more tolerable (and there are indeed very good guides and map resources on PSNProfiles).

Just like EARTH'S DAWN before, LOST EPIC is mad addicting. Enough to make me 100% complete both games. oneoreight found the magic formula, and even improved upon it. Grinding is often used like a curse word, but how does this sound: For every hour played, you get 1-2 new skills to experiment and find interesting synergies with, potentially changing your entire playstyle. New weapons you have access to (for gaining new skills) show exactly which enemies drop the required materials to craft them. Your journal keeps track of everything, so you can look up what you might've missed. And the game is generous with checkpoints in the form of statues (= bonfires, basically), which you can freely teleport between and pretty much always have enemies nearby that you might want materials from. Drop rates are pretty fair as well. So if you're good at keeping mental notes of where to find what you're looking for, it's a quick and fun loop that rewards you constantly. LOST EPIC has some issues with the UI (esp. sorting items) and a bit of misleading info in the help section (esp. regarding stats, e.g. LUC doesn't increase crit rate but DEX does, while DEX doesn't directly raise ATK as stated but how well your weapon breaks armor). But the polish it lacks in minor areas, it more than makes up for with very non-restrictive battle mechanics that allow the player to discover many combos and nuances to fit their playstyle. At some points, things might seem out of balance, but all 3 (main) weapon types end up with a strong and diverse skill set that make them all worth learning and using to their fullest potential, esp. once you get into multi-weapon combos. Defensive options are solid as well, as you can parry, (auto-)block, counter-hit with certain skills, and dodge-roll (or even 8-way-dash if you use a special body) with generous iframes. If I had to highlight something negative about LOST EPIC, it's that it ends up being a really easy game. Even NG+ cycles and the endgame bonus area can't keep up with a properly leveled player who figured it all out. So in order to add more replay value than it already has (beyond getting all 4 endings, fight all boss battles, complete your journal, maybe collect all usable bodies), you might need to make up your own challenges. But damn, what a fun ride it was!

An all around refinement of the previous game from the same people (EARTH DAWN / EARTH WARS depending on the platform you played it on All of the basics are done about as well as you'd expect from a game in the 20 bucks range, I'd even say it's rather good and fixes the problems I had with the visuals of their previous game. The one part that will make or break the game for you is the grind, it is omnipresent and heavy, if you've played Bloodstained it's even more present in LOST EPIC, no exaggeration it's easily half the playtime especially if you go down the skill grind rabbit hole. The difficulty curve is harsh as well, you're expected to grind early and the bosses will remind you that you do in fact need to do that, main bosses also have refights that level up each time and they go to level 10 (and you can refight that level 10 version as much as you want) which is about late game territory, they're mostly here as punching bags for grinding once you're sufficiently geared up but early on they represent an insurmountable wall that you should not bother to climb (though usually f you managed the main version okay then up to level 3 isn't that much worse, however the increase in stats and improvements to pattern and AI of latter levels will not be as easy to deal with). One thing I didn't notice early and actually made the game way easier for me is that if you use the costume from their previous game (the futuristic looking armor with blue accents) which I do not know how I had unlocked from the start since it's supposed to be a very late game unlock (potentially because I own that other game but maybe from being an early access player), this costume gets you access to weapons a slight bit above the power curve barring the late game but also to the dash mechanic from that previous game instead of the regular double jump, that means platforming sections become easier as you have 5 multi directional dashes at your fingertip, granted knowing what I know now I would never willingly choose the regular double jump as one of the late game area seems like it would be horrifying to get through without the dashes but it still is something I'd have liked to know before making that choice blindly. So yeah, unless you hate grinding the is game is a definite yes from me,

This is a really good game. The game also has good animations, lots of weapons, well-designed enemies and a good movement system. This is a really good game. There is no point in writing too much here, just sit down and play because the game is worth playing. In my opinion: 10 / 10

Good game overall, as in, every aspect is good, above average: boss design, level design, enemy variety, soundtrack, story, menus, systems, graphics, animations, etc. I have a slight gripe with how awkward the roll maneuver works, it has a bit of a delay when finished. Also, a lot of stats aren't explained fully anywhere in the game, so min-maxing operates under players' assumptions scathered around the internet. It does have one amazing feature : there are 108 skills that you can mix, match, and level up at will and assign to whichever of the 5 activation slots you want (but since you can equip two weapons at once, you'll have 10 slots total during gameplay). This leads to experimentation and combo-planning, which customizes the flow of combat according to your own creativity. However, in a balancing act, the unlocking of skills is tied to crafting weapons, which in turn leads to a lot of grinding for materials. I think grinding takes half the game, unfortunately . I didn't mind it as much, since it was an opportunity to test new setups and train my combos, but it does negatively affect the pacing. So I'd say grab it for 50% off. It's a good game, but it disappoints at times .
