Didn't get hooked by the game at first for various reasons but there is a hidden gem here imo. The game leans heavily into the story and character dialogue is often in front, though skip-able never goes away. [I don't care for the story in beat'm ups]. Starting out the game feels too easy and very few enemy types with little agency on upgrades because they did not really mean anything when basic attacks are enough. However, the difficulty ramps up and suddenly the paths you can take on the map toward the boss really starts to matter. You can get upgrades after each room that buff you immediately without much thought but if you can get enough of certain types you can get additional buffs based on what you have chosen during the run. So, having to judge if you want a to go a certain route for a additional bonus or not is more engaging than I thought it would be. There are plenty of characters to choose from even without the DLC character and also unlocks for the characters you are using to adjust them to the style of engagement you want which is nice. The unlocks are not small adjustments either. There is also gear you can equip to give more bonuses and there are set bonuses as well so that is cool though they are not visual, just a slot window with stats. I wish there was more than 2 attacks, a dodge/guard, and an Ultimate ability. A 3rd attack would make the game much more interesting. The game is fine solo though I have not tried the Trials challenge type yet where the game clearly wants you to play multiplayer. I suspect it will be enjoyable enough as the rest of the game has so far.

Can you not gatekeep the co-op please I bought it to play with my friend and had to spend almost 2 hours before I had it unlocked... XD not to mention they also have to unlock it too

It's a decently good time. It looks alright, sounds nice, you get nice upgrades during your runs and a few characters that play differently. It's not terribly challenging though, for those looking for that.

Good action. Great enemies and bosses. Some of the BOSSES sometimes take up the whole screen. this game was in BETA and needed story and character development. Can't wait to see the upgrades.
