March 2026
The Mouse and the enchanted world (Our) "Moss" is one of those games that was elevated to the status of legends only because the legends were very necessary to the world, and it doesn't matter that our charming mouse is ready for such a great title, she still gets it both in the history of the game and in in our real world, going against the sound and rigorous assessment of video game art. "Moss" is an action platformer with puzzles, in which we fight with very simple enemies, of which there are not too many types, we carry out platforming and solve puzzles, most often related to it. Despite the competent formal execution, the combat collisions and puzzles themselves are a fairly simple execution of mesonics, that is, there are few types of enemies, the heroine also has abilities, so it would not be possible for game designers to create something really complex and complex without going into stupid hardcore with an increase in the number of platforms, enemies and steps in simple puzzles. However, I repeat that the performance itself is adequate, the fights look good (the enemies even have their own victory animation in the event of the heroine's death), there are several tense moments of jumping speed, and the puzzles make you strain your head quite a bit, but literally for 1-2 minutes of short reflection. The strongest side of "Moss" is the auditory-visual, the game is incredibly drawn, and the charming musical design seamlessly immerses us in this world of an animal charming fairy tale (which, by the way, is written by Jason Graves, the creator of the soundtrack to Until Dawn and Dead Space, but the melodic violin performance turned out to be just as good for him). Looking at the magnificent and monumental landscapes of local swamps, forests, tombs and cities, one wants to forget about the existence of the real world and plunge headlong into the one created by the studio's artists, for which they are immensely honored and respected. But with the history of situations, it's less joyful and more sad, and it's not about the narrative itself, it's just like the gameplay, it's just adequate, rather fleeting, without development and space for reflection or philosophical reasoning, just a classic fairy tale, which, however, ends in the middle, the end of the story can only be seen in the second part, which doesn't look too respectful and pleasant for a $20 game (the game takes a maximum of 4 hours to complete). The most offensive factor in the evaluation for me is the fact of the VR exclusivity of the project. Unfortunately, I do not have the desire or the opportunity to state that the game uses the full potential of the chosen platform. On the contrary, the gaming experience in Moss is completely sedentary, and the use of hands is limited to rare interaction with the environment and opponents, instead of giving the opportunity to actively change the landscape, forcing me to think for a long time about puzzles and combat situations, but these are just my "reader's" fantasies. If the first and second books were a single whole, cost $ 30 and were completed in their 7-8 hours, then it would be one solid and good game that does not excite the imagination, but gives you the opportunity to relax and immerse yourself in an affectionate and all-encompassing universe, the design of which can cause genuine delight. However, using the Pros and Cons of steam instead of the rating system, I would still confidently give the first book a big Yes, because its advantages are very strong, and the disadvantages can be easily ignored, because it's worth seeing such incredible landscapes in VR! 6/10 - Ok game

Quite possibly the best game I've ever played. Beautiful visuals and an engaging story always make for a good title, but this felt like I was a part of it. Absolutely would recommend, in fact can't recommend it enough. Moss isn't the longest game, but I will absolutely play through again to go get things I missed the first time around. Really looking forward to starting the second book too. The controls did take some getting used to, but I wouldn't even consider that a negative. if you're a VR player, Moss is a must.

I first played a bit of this game at a friends house on his Quest 2, and I was blown away by the world setting as well as falling in love with Quill. So when I got my Quest 3 this was the first thing I knew I needed to play. I was pleased to see the developers also added new features like the 'skip combat' mode too (so you don't have to be frustrated with a combat if it gets too difficult - although I don't personally find them too bad, but my son and wife got a little frustrated, so this is a nice addition). I definitely recommend this to anyone getting into VR for the first time (especially if it is on offer).

This VR game holds up surprisingly well for being released in 2018. The art style and environments are beautiful. The puzzles and combat incorporate motion and controller inputs in a very natural way. Within my first hour, I really felt like I was working together with the mouse character. The incorporation of a VR PoV into the platformer experience allows for more complex 3D environments & sneakier places to hide collectibles. (Look around for those scrolls! They might not be visible from a simple zoomed-out position.) When I finish the game, I'll update this review with further thoughts.
