Runs and looks great on the Steam Frame standalone, no PC needed. When it's not crashing, at least... But that might just be because the Steam Frame is very new at the time I'm testing this (this is the 2nd game I tried standalone). As with the other game, I don't really fully understand what the heck is going on, even after having finished the game... The ending especially raises more questions than answers. I assume that's part of the unknown = horror aspect though. The puzzles are meh, the combat is meh (which for me is a plus at least, I'm more of a puzzle person), the environmental story telling and such is quite great though. If you've played the first game, this is really more of the same. It's almost more of a VR point and click immersive adventure with some basic horror/combat elements, and without having to spend hours on some infuriating puzzle because as the puzzles are decently straightforward. The great/immersive visuals are probably one of the biggest selling points.
Awesome game, made from the ground up for VR. I would call it a must-have because there's not a lot of these kinds of well thought out VR games out there. Very immersive, almost everything worked great. Played it streaming to the Steam Frame and worked fine although you have to start steamVR first before starting up the game. Few tiny things: -The buttons on screen dont match with the buttons of the Frame (small detail). -Often when dying and when it shows the menu, I'm behind the menu or at least its not in front of me. -There was a quite some searching and combining of pieces involved and I would like some items to be a bit better highlighted. For example, if I need to put a tape in a tapedeck and the slot is very dark and not lit, it doesn't feel right
Having played the first game, I wasn't anticipating the second game to be so extensive. There is a bit of puzzles, a bit of exploration, and a bit of shooting. I loved the story and the environments. I wasn't expecting the travel via spaceship and train...so I enjoyed it very much! A definite improvement on the mechanics and locomotion! EDIT: Just finished the game. It gets even better the further in you go! That liquid Red Matter effect was super cool, and the ending was heartwarming. I highly recommend playing till the end! Really good.
I loved the game. The immersiveness and sense of space, the puzzle solving, the vibe, everything. Except for having to sneak by the automated defense turrets. And it doesn't save after you get by one, you have to get by a gauntlet of them. And then, after a cool out-of-body experience where they give you this cool new laser gun, the laser gun doesn't destroy turrets. You have to sneak past them *again*. Laser turrets were an infuriating part of an awesome game, and then they decide to *repeat that part*. Hell no. So that was where I gave up. I figure I got through about 75% of the game.
