Holy shit this is surprisingly good and addictive. 2d metal gear, with lots of fun and wierd equipments. Some achievements though are going to be pain in my poopoo-hole, so I don't really think that I am going to 100% cheevo it. upd: I did 100% cheevos

Adorable and rude. Mr. Sun's Hatbox is Spelunky with the sharp edges sanded off to a smooth finish. You play a little Isaac delivery man who lost a package/hat and needs to return it. And in order to do so you need to XCOM the receiver's basement with building upgrades. Then you are off doing retrieval, delivery, abduction, and kill missions to earn upgrades and steps towards endgame. Every hat is your armor, every weapon is your tool for mayhem. And like Spelunky, this game will fly off the rails with Rube Goldbergesq hilarity and frustration. Fun little romp that you can go with or against a friend for added value.

Hilarious at times, frustrating on others. A game that really forces you to adapt how you play - sprinkled in with some base management that keeps you invested. AMAZING with friends.

Cute, fun game, and just the right length. Very very light story, but funny, and better for it. It combines a tight 2d-platformer with Xcom-style base construction between levels to let you manage, power-up, and equip your units. The platforming has significant difficulty (though there are settings you can turn down). There are a ton of hats and weapons with powers that are well-thought-out and fun. Levels can be tackled with violence, stealth, or a combination of both. Overall the best thing about this game is how well tuned everything is, from the feel of the platforming, depth of gadgets, and economy for the base management.

It's addictive and fun, but I can see why some folks don't like it all that much. But I think it's something that you can work around. So the problem some folks have is that essentially, there is a lot of chaos going on. The longer you play, the worse it gets, in a given save file, especially if you keep getting more magic hats. It is possible to get the magic hats before you have really mastered the skills leading up to it, and if you do that, then you'll wind up losing like 80% of the missions you go on after a few hours, because you're just under-skilled for what is happening at that point. If that happens to you, then I suggest just starting a fresh save slot. The progression the second time through lets you build the skills you were missing, during less-frenetic combat that you now have the actual chance to deal with. If you just keep playing on the existing save slot you are on, it gets only worse and worse in terms of how much is going on and how hard it is to tell what is going on. The controls are tight, and the platforming and combat feels really good. However, it does take some time to master, and if you get too far into a specific run without having mastered the controls and the general mechanics, you're going to have a very bad time. Fortunately, the early part of the game is really fun, so starting a fresh save slot is not exactly a penalty.
