I bought this because it was inexpensive, and I like 3rd-person survival/crafting games like 'Conan Exiles', 'Soulmask', 'Nightingale', 'Once Human', etc. So far, it's a decent game--similar to 'Seven Days to Die', 'Vein', 'Night of the Dead' and other survive-in-a-zombie-infested-world crafting/building games . I recommend this game because it's a good value and can be fun; there is plenty to do, build, and explore, and it will take a while to get your character up to be the best that he/she can be. Also, there are three different maps (one small and two large) which add a bit of variety (a little). However, there are some design choices that could potentially lead to frustration. Visually, it's a nice-looking game (but could be better optimized). Some animations aren't great, but not bad, yet some are quite nice, like the tree-falling physics. Good character models and customization too. The tutorial was quick and easy, so jumping into the game and knowing what to do wasn't a chore. You won't need to watch lengthy youtube videos before playing (though there are some helpful tips, of course). This game aims to find the right balance between realism and fun. So you can build tools more quickly and easily than in games like 'Scum' or 'Survisland', where the process can be a bit tedious, but you won't be throwing tools, benches, and shelters together quite as quickly as in 'Conan Exiles' or 'Once Human'. Similarly, you can carry more than in games that focus on realism, but not as much as in games that emphasize action. The game does have some potentially frustrating design choices: certain skill levels are required to unlock certain benches, but you can't even get the needed level without the bench because you're not able to craft anything to start building up the skill. There are other ways to get the levels (books and merchants), but this could take a while and require a lot of walking, which might end up feeling frustratingly tedious to some players, like hitting a wall. Also, you don't get experience in skills unless you're at the workstation while an object finishes being crafted. So when you want to build up a skill, you got to sit there watching ingots being smelted or a spear being made, etc. That can be a pain. You could leave the crafting table and try to get back the moment it finishes, but if you miss that moment, no experience. Consequently, I sometimes walked away from the game for five minutes or so while ingots were being smelted so I'd get the experience points. Overall, I definitely recommend the game. Just be aware of the minor weaknesses I mentioned as of this writing.

I don't doubt this is a s&%t game. Feels like the devs have inverted eyeballz with dyslexic fingers or something. However, I'm a guy with low expectations. Set the bar low? This game is holy hell fun as f&%k! Play the game for six hours without end, you're a lier if you didn't have fun. I did, and tons upon tons of it. Cat Play Studios, please keep going with this game. Few years more, tunes will start changing. Trust- Zomboid and 7 Days had the same issues. It's only bad for now. Time will reach PERFECTION

A solo dev that updates frequently and listens to players makes this game pretty awesome for an in dev game. Yeah, it's not complete yet, but I can tell it will be. The dev has been grinding out updates and trying new ideas constantly. This game is definitely a diamond in the rough, worth a buy, and a play.

Status: WorkInProgress - Expect rough terrain. First Impression - what the heck is this garbage of a game - glitching, non-immersive with Z aggroing on you mile away? Some of those bugs are still there without any Lore sense from developers. L.Logic - forget about it. G.Graphix - once i turned from 1060 EVGA 6gb to 3090TiFE - it looks fine on Dx11. Gameplay - reminds you ALOT of best practices: 1 - STATE OF DECAY 2 - 7DAYS 2DIE 3 - UNTURNED 4 - DAY-Z 5 - PROJECT ZOMBOID 6 - LEFT 4 DEAD 7 - [NAME YOUR Z-SURVIVAL GAME HERE] 8 - Sorry SCUM You have lock-picking minigame, you have very rough agroing Zs, you have minimalistic looting with 0 respawn (out of the box), you have items breaking fast, you have full repair, you have base and kraft system. As for now - encounters with Crawler and/Or Giant - are death tickets. Oh - you have also Mining reagions, Shop-keepers, Bandits. What is missing - Zs arent loosing you, despite there is some idea of general stealth. Storms arent masking y our overall noise and scent - it is roaring blizzard, with wall of liquid - you cannot drink it and it doesnt washing you. Those are some logical mistakes to fx. Kinda all this book-reading without any progress of actual action - and death penalty for hard reset - annoying - along with that Giant can smell and zoom on you from mile away. Overall - game is great - once properly balanced and logically adversed - we have an ALL-in-ONE Zy-Fi game which purpose is RELAX and PLAY. Balancing settings for server - kinda tourture ones - this are the settings you want to correct out-of-the-box: 1 - item respawn is 0 - swap to 5 - so you wont run into - lost all - run against the time. Especially multiplayer. 2 - Z assoult - 15 days instead of 7 - its annoying. 3 - Z spawn etc - set minimal - as they atack you from all around for no logical reason, including giants. 4 - while day length is sensetive because nights are pitch dark - better tweak brightness - sooner you get renewal for items - better. 5 - death penalty - restrict - no way you will survive - that is a game mechanics. And there you go - upto 10 players co-op while not so much gore and punishment, where you get all Z-vibes all together while have challenging yet cheerful experience. Ive got a video review - raw cast. 18+ https://youtube.com/live/2i8V_Sl6_e8

NoS is a pretty fun and addictive building/crafting/zombie game. The overall game quality indicates it is fairly early in development. To justify that comment, compare NoS in early access and Night of the Dead (NotD) in early access. NotD is dramatically more refined than NoS while both are "early access". Anyway, fun game and I find myself doing 10-12 hour sessions, which at age 67, is a major league physical accomplishment. I really like this game and will continue to play & support it until it goes gold. Try it, you'll like it.
