Dec. 2025
So this game punches like way, way above it's weight class... I was expecting a fun little arcade racer, what I got was one of the best racing games I've played. It's short, it's sweet, it's fun as hell. The feel of the drifting and the boost system is probably the best drift system I've ever played with. The level design is super fun and inspired and the concept alone is fascinating. I wish there were more tracks tbh, or that this dev fleshes this out into a fuller game (as it is stated in the credits that this was the result of a game jam.). Point Blank, I would still give this game very, very high marks (pretty quickly became one of my favorite racing games), but there are a few things I really do not like about it that I hope the devs look at/fix. They all kind of compound on each other for me. I should also state they are much more prominent problems in the higher level races of the game. I'm going to try to explain them as I see they interact with each other. *I'd also like to add before I state this that I am aware that the drifting keeps you planted on the ground (mostly) preventing you from going airborne. First, this game kinda has a problem with suffering from success. I will be drifting my ass off with my top speed high as hell, but a lot of the jumps if you are going too fast you will either go too high and hit some geometry of the level, your car will catch air weirdly (I am speaking hitting a ramp straight on here, not user error) and you will not be leveled out enough when you land, or you will be going so fast you overshoot where you are intended to land. As for the tight drifts the only one I'd say was REALLY noticeable was on Liberty Island right before rainbow road The amount of times I hit that going 70 into a drift and just flew over it was too high. Ok so now we have that established... In my mind you see those problems and you think, well ok then, just slow down, don't hit those ramps at top speed, don't hit that drift going 70. Fair enough, I thought that too, and that leads to the second part of the complaint. Braking in this game feels kind of bad and confusing. Keep in mind I almost never had to brake until the highest class of races and even there, very rarely, up until that point I thought this was an all gas no brakes type game. So when you brake in this game, your car slows down, but then I'd hit gas and it would ultra fast rocket back up to 70 MPH. I don't like this, and I've never seen it before if you aren't shifting manually to achieve this. Combine it with the fact that there is not any really good feedback or solid indicator of braking like screeching or tire marks to help you kind of get a feel for your speed. The game is quite fast so it is hard to measure just on visual alone, especially when you are going 70-80MPH about to drift a tiny corkscrew land bridge. I dunno, seems like something to look at or fix. It was REALLY hard to gauge that 70mph drift loop. Probably took me 30+ tries just at that part to get it and even then there wasn't a ton of consistency. Mostly I'd just slow to an almost stop and crawl through it and hope CPU didn't catch up, which... feels bad and probably not what the devs intended If I had to guess. Lastly there is just a lot of wonky physics interactions on top of these two things. to the point that I would say it might be a good idea to also look into the physics and maybe add some slight guardrails on them. It feels really bad when you are killing it and all of a sudden the physics have a weird interaction that feels like something you have done 1000 times before but this time your car is spinning around, facing backwards, doing kickflips, ect All that aired out. Still, if you like arcade racing this game is awesome and even with the flaws listed, IMO it's super worth your time and even the little bit of frustration that comes with those problems. It is REALLY good. Love this game.

Really fun controls and maps. Has a very satisfying learning curve. Exactly what I was hoping it to be. Using open source tools like Blender and Godot and even including a flawless native Linux port is extremely based. Love it. EUROPEAN TOUR HYPE!

finally a game that asks the tough questions, like “what if sega rally had boost chaining” and “how much third-wave ska is enough” (it’s never enough)

One of the most fun racing games I've played in a while. Pretty addictive. Just one more try is real with this one. Controls feel very good. The physics are very fair but I have greed for speed and often end up full sending out of the map. Its a bargain too.

Really charming retro racer. Drifting mechanics feel very intuitive and the soundtrack is surprisingly catchy. Make sure you accelerate right after "Set" and you'll get a starting boost.
