Man, this game is so underrated. I bought this as a random little thing, expecting that I wouldn't like it and would refund it after a bit. That's not at all what happened. This game is a masterpiece. From even before you start a run. Right when you open up the game for the first time, you are met with amazing music. You start the game and are met with a screen where you get to see everything there is to get in the game, you see many unique characters, all with unique weapons and abilities, all suited for many diverse play styles. You can also see all of the pets you can equip, what they can do, and how to unlock them and the locked characters. Once you choose a character to play as for your first run, you can choose what different upgrades to equip on their abilities and different skins to choose from, once you unlock them of course. Ok, you have now chosen a character and looked through the pets, the character's abilities, their skins, and possible upgrades, and are in the hub, it's beautiful, with many NPCs to talk to and buy from, and you get to see exactly what the difficulty that you are on does for your play through. You talk to the NPCs and find one that changes how a play through can work, with an upgrade tree, once you get the points to upgrade the upgrade tree, by just playing the game, your experience can differ a lot. You also find a shopkeeper that sells items that are unlockable with blue coins, a currency used inside and outside of runs. You also find an NPC that adds new altars to the game, which can heavily alter (see what I did there?) runs in positive and negative ways, lastly, you see an NPC that tracks achievments and gives you meta rewards for your future runs. Now that you have looked through the amazing hub, you go to the large portal in the center of the hub and begin a run. You see that there are many different choices in the portal, once you have completed a floor. You enter the first level and find some chests, nothing too special. You beat the floor and enter the next floor, you choose to play a type of more difficult level, an elite floor these can shake up runs, they have the ability to kill the player with decent ease, but if the player is feeling confident, they can choose to join one of these floors and complete the challenge associated with it. You get rewarded with a pretty good reward for the challenge you defeated. You keep going and beat the first boss. You keep playing for a while, but eventually die. That's fine, it's expected even. Now you can use what you got from your first run to get further and further, maybe you even got a new character to play with, or even a new pet! You buy some new things, and use your points to upgrade a few different paths in the upgrade tree and start a brand new run, the run is the same, but completely different, you play different levels, with different designs, and get different upgrades for a possibly new character with a possibly new pet, possibly new ability upgrades, and possibly even a new skin. Overall, this game needs more love, it's so good, and one of the only games I've actually had a really fun time trying to optimize and speedrun. I always see it getting new updates in my library and it gets better every time. Much love and respect to DuskDog for developing a great game such as this.
