This game is so fast and so much fun! I was about 19 when the original F-Zero came out on the SNES and me and my friends played that game everyday for about a year. Ever since then I've played a few anti-grav racers, but none ever quite scratched that F-Zero itch. Then, about a month ago, YouTube recommended me a Redout video by someone named "Dandy ツ" and I suddenly turned into the Leonardo DiCaprio meme where he's pointing and recognizing what's on the TV because I immediately thought of F-Zero. I watched all that guy's videos (which were actually for Redout 2, the sequel), downloaded the demo, and put both Redout 1 and 2 on my wishlist and waited for a sale. I loved what the small demo Redout has (1 ship and 1 track only; it's just a taste of the game), so I decided to pick up the full game when it went on sale for $5. And, yeah, the game's freaking brilliant! This is THE anti-grav racer! The soundtrack is killer, the visuals are fast and buttery smooth, and the tracks are really varied (I picked up all the DLC, too which was about $15 more on sale). Piloting the ships is a bit of a learning curve, especially learning how to strafe and use the left analog stick to point up and down, as well as lean left and right like a motorcycle, but after a little practice, I've gotten the basics down pretty well. This is a super-fun game. It's kind of old school since all the tracks are bespoke - there's no open world nonsense here, and overall it feels like an old school game like F-Zero or even something like SSX Tricky where you really have to learn the tracks (and the tracks do seem to have alternate paths, just like in SSX before it went open world). I don't know why I never heard of this series before or why it isn't more popular, but if you like old-school anti-grav racers, techno music, fast, colorful visuals, and bespoke challenges, then Redout is your game!

Quite a fun game once you get used to the handling. It has a ton of maps especially with DLCs, but sadly no map editor. Beware of motion sickness. The visuals are quite heavy at times, but lowering the graphics settings helped me a lot. Also, the online is dead, so basically it is a singleplayer game now. Overall I'd say grab it on discount and have fun.

Playing Redout is the ultimate white knuckle racer for hardcore racing fans looking to master something different. Redout is a unique racer. You've probably read everyone mention how this game lives up to it's "Faster than Ever" subtitle, but there's quite a bit more to Redout's identity than that. For one, the game has what I feel are jet inspired controls, giving you not only steering, gas and brake, but also an additional set of controls on the right stick for strafe and pitch to take corners better and prevent scraping as the roller coaster tracks in front of you blur by. Ultimately, while it may sound like these extra inputs are optional for the most dedicated players, Redout was made for the hardest core players and therefore past speed class 1 or 2, they are absolutely required. Redout is a beautiful game no matter how you need to configure it for your PC. The settings can all be turned low to have as little bling as possible to run on nearly any protato™️ and look uniquely gorgeous all thanks to the low poly inspired art direction. I originally played this on a 2020 laptop without a GPU and it ran at a solid 60FPS when I kept settings around medium or an old Windows 7 PC hitting 30 FPS on the lowest settings and low resolution or a dedicated gaming laptop with a 4060 playing this game on the highest settings trying it's hardest to hit 360FPS, any computer I've played this game on has been gorgeous. It's not like the game isn't detailed on the highest settings; I can see so many particle effects and flares as I race by on my gaming PC, but it's absolutely optional and you wouldn't feel anything is missing if it isn't there. And if you're still worried, try the demo. For tracks, the base game comes with 5 environments, a desert, snow, jungle, volcano, and Europa. There are about 5 or 6 tracks for each environment giving you about 30 tracks which are all really fun and unique and you're probably going to have a fun time. Each environment also has a boss track where all the environment's tracks are linked together with teleporters and you do one track after the other. Redout is pretty good on it's own with just these tracks. However, if you are really dedicated and love this game to bits, all of the DLC has been a good pick for this game. I'm not usually someone that buys DLCs for games but this game has been the one exception and I have been extremely happy with every purchase I have made. Overall, I highly recommend Redout to anyone who wants a unique arcade racer to master no matter what specs their computer are. It's not a game made for everyone, but it's a game that delivers greatly for anyone it's made for.

The anti-grav racing field is getting crowded, and that's awesome! For all of the ones I've seen and tried, this game sells it's sense of RAW SPEED better than just about any other. You really feel like your'e going 500+km/hr when you're blitzing down a straight - it's genuinely intense. The track designs are gorgeous, if you like the aesthetic and value a sense of SPEED over all else, and are only grabbing one racer during the current Steam Sale, grab this one.
