A lot of negative comments seem to come from people who played the game for less than an hour. I guess there is value in their feedback that they weren't hooked, but their comments on the mechanics of the game are just naive. The game seems to be fairly difficult so that explains several reviews in my opinion - people don't want to put in the work to understand the game. They just want to boot up and win immediately. After playing for several hours I really started to warm up to the game in appreciating its mechanics. There is actually a bit of depth and strategy. You need to reroll items and plan ahead because the better items often come with downsides. I will say that again - reroll your items and plan around them for a specific build. Those who mindlessly select whatever are the same ones claiming the game gives you no agency and decisions don't matter. Picking your troop composition is important for powerful Oath bonuses. Choosing which troops to upgrade and resource management is important. This is very similar to Diablo 2 necromancer, but you have SOOO much more agency. People saying otherwise simply didn't play long enough to understand. Overall I found this game pretty fun with each run lasting 20-30 minutes. You unlock new characters for different playstyles (like one that seems to focus on buffing a single unit or small army). It looks like another will be a zerg swarmer with faster respawns (haven't unlocked yet). There seems to be a nice meta progression with skill trees, unlocks on items, and units. I still have a lot more to unlock, but I am thoroughly enjoying it. I don't write reviews often, but this one was worth it in my opinion.

Played the Demo before I bought this, and Ill play more later but right now here are some early impressions Quick overview: If you like being a Necromancer (Like I) Then you'll probably enjoy the game. most upgrades are stat bumps, But that's not an issue overall to me. You define your build by focusing on the types of minions you have, and once you unlock their "group bonus" that buff stays, and you can delete them and go for more group buffs. Accessibility: Shoutout to the dev for making screenshake, distortion, and CRT as options to turn off, without those, I would not be able to play the game. Summary: It's not perfect, but there's not a whole lot of games out there that scratch the itch of this theme, and can do so well enough. With a few small additions, then It'll be even better. It is an autobattler at heart, so don't expect super hands on gameplay, but knowing that going in, I'd recommend at least trying out the Demo, It's free and the game is small, so what's the harm. Will update if anything changes with more playtime. Update: Experimenting with different characters, each are pretty unique, but I notice some bad stuttering now and then. I'm not sure if it's a limitation of the engine, or my computer. Only happened severely when I played The Many Skull.

Dopamine hooked straight to your veins. It’s like playing a summon necromancer in Diablo 2, except the necromancer is the entire game and every mechanic has been min-maxed for maximum enjoyment.

Deep and interesting horde-building roguelike. Unlike similar games like Hive Blight, the game encourages players to experiment with new builds DURING a run. This is because once you obtain a set bonus, that bonus is permanent even after selling the units you used to obtain it. So the meta here will be something like: buy units A-F, get their set bonuses, sell them, then buy units G-M which are the optimal units to benefit from those set bonuses. On top of that, there are already five or six playable character-skulls that play completely differently and interact with units uniquely. I've just scratched the surface.

I love this game, it's so stupid but fun. At the end of the run, there's a summary, but I have no idea what the numbers mean - there are only symbols that I don't know how to interpret. Please but text hints on the symbols so I know what my unit did. Please fam!
