Played the Demo before I bought this, and Ill play more later but right now here are some early impressions Quick overview: If you like being a Necromancer (Like I) Then you'll probably enjoy the game. most upgrades are stat bumps, But that's not an issue overall to me. You define your build by focusing on the types of minions you have, and once you unlock their "group bonus" that buff stays, and you can delete them and go for more group buffs. Accessibility: Shoutout to the dev for making screenshake, distortion, and CRT as options to turn off, without those, I would not be able to play the game. Summary: It's not perfect, but there's not a whole lot of games out there that scratch the itch of this theme, and can do so well enough. With a few small additions, then It'll be even better. It is an autobattler at heart, so don't expect super hands on gameplay, but knowing that going in, I'd recommend at least trying out the Demo, It's free and the game is small, so what's the harm. Will update if anything changes with more playtime. Update: Experimenting with different characters, each are pretty unique, but I notice some bad stuttering now and then. I'm not sure if it's a limitation of the engine, or my computer. Only happened severely when I played The Many Skull. Edit to the update after playing for 10 more hours. There may be a memory leak, the game runs great until the third or so run, then it starts to stutter a little bit, then it gets worse until I reset the game.
This is the type of game where I wish there was a "meh" rating. The game is solid, polished, and has a solid core. There are lots of the correct pieces here but the whole experience kinda just falls flat. The battles are so chaotic and you have so little feedback to what is happening and what parts of your build are going well and what parts are going poorly. I either faceroll everything or my build just completely flops and there is near zero way to let me know why. I like it overall but will shelve this until major improvements are made.
The game offers a fun blend of Vampire Survivors-style gameplay and auto-battler mechanics. If you enjoy commanding hordes as a necromancer or prefer games you can comfortably play using just a mouse then this one’s definitely worth trying. The developers also deserve credit for adding customizable difficulty options, letting every player find their ideal balance between challenge and fun.
Review after completing the campaign and unlocking most units and items: This game is among the best auto battlers, and a very fun undead horde game. You play as a flying skull (demilich for the D&D players) and command various types of skellies. The unit variety is good and they each contribute in a special way to the horde. You've got shield skellies, plague slinging skellies, fire skellies, rat skellies, golem skellies and many other kinds of skellies. There is even a clown skellie! We live in a necrocracy... ...Anyway! You can also play a different flying skull each one with their own skill progression and play-style. They are different enough to be fun to try them, though some are better than others. (Garg is a beast.) If you like necromancy, undead, or auto-battlers that have good variety and sweet soundtracks, I highly recommend this game and for its price, it's a steal!
