Nice and short cleaning game. The graphics are nice, the mechanics are not complicated and overall, it's a very relaxed game. One caveat though: There was very noticeable stuttering in the last levels due to the gas vents and I don't think a 2d pixel game should stutter :) I played on PC, didn't expect that.

Was hoping this game would be like “Spilled!”, and I was right. You get the satisfaction of cleaning out the world of pollutants and upgrade yourself as you go. Took me around 7-8 hours to 100% the game, so it’s honestly a good game to spend your time on for that little while. Hopefully there will be more jobs to come back to in the future.

Very good game that suffers from one flaw : it's way too short. Having played the Demo during Nextfest, and again right before launch, I felt like the demo was about 50% of the game in terms of content. The levels are well designed, classic in their progression yet very efficient at introducing new gameplay mechanics one at a time. The game is expectedly a little bit grindy, as the incremental/upgrade based nature of the game suggests. Even then, the game can be beaten without getting all upgrades, so most of the real big grind is postgame and optional. As other reviews have mentioned, a simple yet effective way to help with both issues would be the addition of some prestige mechanic, letting you reset after the boss with a bonus (either simple or an entire bonus tree). This would help with the later grind and give some much-needed replayability to the game. That being said, when the worst thing one has to say about a game is that it's too short, and didn't feel like it overstayed its welcome either, that means gameplay, presentation and overall fun were pretty good. For the amount of time needed to finish it, even considering a full 100% achievements run, it's not gonna take you all that long. So YMMV on whether it's good at its current price or not. That being said, if you see it on sale for a lower price and like incremental games and the satisfaction of cleaning (think Powerwash Simulator-like), I'd recommend togo for it. It's a good game and a nice time.

This is a great game! It's really fun. It's sort of like PowerWash, you are sucking up gunk but also jackhammering ore and filtering gas, killing volcanos and things. You get drones to help and are constantly upgrading your gear or unlocking new gear. It took me about 5 hours to complete, but I only have 15/25 achievements so I will be working on those and get some more time out of the game. I hope they add more levels or a DLC or something.

I played the demo during NEXT Fest and thought Sludgineers was a charming little game, so it went straight onto my wishlist. Today, I finally got to play the full game and I loved it still. There’s a really satisfying gameplay loop here. Clearing the land, watching it get restored, earning resources and unlocking new skills gives you plenty of reasons to keep going. Even the occasional grind feels worthwhile as you build up your refinery and equipment. And there’s a nice little giggle waiting for you at the end. My only real niggle is the purple sludge-refining machine. It is tediously slow, and I couldn’t find any upgrades that meaningfully increase its speed. This makes some achievements unnecessarily drawn out, leaving you sitting around waiting for refinement while replaying completed levels simply because there’s nothing else left to unlock. You can essentially finish the game long before you actually need all those upgrades. Apart from that, though? Loved it. A charming, satisfying little incremental game with a surprisingly addictive loop.
