I think expectations can sometimes kill a game before it even has time to shine. Big kudos to the dev for posting what to expect from this game prior to release because it really helped me go into this experience with a level head. First and foremost, this game's primary focus is relaxation and creating. Either solo or with others. This review will be from a solo player standpoint. I persoanally HATE player made tags for games. It can sometimes be misleading. This game is very light on the "survival". Your tools break and you have a hunger/thirst meter. There is a cozy mode where upon exhaustion, you don't lose your inventory and everything decays slower. This is the mode I am playing on because why do I want my game to mimic the chaos of real life XD The character creation is just awful. The options are very limited and not all that appealing. That being said, you play the game in first person view, so you barely ever see your character. The starting area can be a bit slow and limiting with resources but the gameplay experience really opens up once you build your aircraft and start expanding your workstation. This game is all about discovery, collecting and crafting. The more you collect, the more you can craft to unlock more gear and supplies. There is no story but I do like how there is a tiered unlock system in place for crafting. It gives you something to work towards despite the very open world, sandbox feel. I was starting to get a bit bored with the starter floating island. So if you don't give this game enough time to unlock the other features, you will be really underwhelmed. I just unlocked my airship and the other islands offer a bit of change of scenary with new vegetation and new resources to collect. This is a slow burn type of game. You need to take your time AND give it time to be able to exerience all it has to truly offer. I am playing it on the steam deck and it runs just fine. I have no issues with the graphics or controls. My only gripe is with building. It can be a bit fiddly with navigating the outer edge of the scroll wheel and the placement of items takes a bit of patience. I imagine it is a lot easier on KB+M, but it is not unplayable. Just needs some work. If you are looking to chill and build your dream self-sustaining sanctuary, then this is for you. But if you are looking for a fight-for-your-life, fast paced survival game, you will be sorely disappointed. I think the dev did a great job with the promo videos for this game, so make sure to watch them all before you buy to see if this game is a fit for you. This game is by no means bad, but I don't know if I would recommend it at full price. Update: as much as I was enjoying this game, the aircraft is starting to really become bothersome. Flying it is a bit cumbersome with controller and I am constantly crashing it, which aborts the whole mission. There needs to be a proper landing dock and maybe some auto assist with landing. And as I’m gathering more resources, I am starting to notice how annoying organizing everything is because A) storage capacity is too small B) stacks of items are capped at 16, which is just insane. Just some QoL issues that could use improvement because it’s starting to affect gameplay.

after an hour of gameplay i'll give this a tentative recommendation, but maybe consider waiting until a sale. i don't think i'd spend 23 USD on it again. 7-ish hours in, my recommendation is still tentative. i do think the price is a little more understandable now though, i'll definitely get my money's worth out of it it's got a good base down! the graphics are nice, i personally really enjoy the progression system so far, and overall it's what i was advertised! i also appreciate that you can rebind every single control. if you tend to shy away from survival games because of combat (or play them anyway but complain about combat the whole time, like me), this would definitely be a good game to try out. i do definitely have some issues with it though! but here's some of the more glaring ones to me: [*]the character customization leaves a LOT to be desired. there's 2 skin tones, 6 hair options (4 short length and 2 medium length from what i can tell, all of which are straight and pretty feminine cuts), and very little difference between the 5 available body types. the face is also fairly feminine, with no way to customize that. at least you can make your hair pink if that's what you want? i'd prefer a more inclusive character customizer, personally. especially considering this has multiplayer functionality! if my friends don't see me in my character, what's the point of customization? [*] EDIT for clarification on my previous point: i quite like the idea of a simple character creator, that's not what i'm upset about! i'm more upset about how they chose to go about it - limited options is fine, but the lack of variety in said options is what irks me. [*] there's a pretty severe lack of accessibility. the menu screen has white text on a bright background, making it difficult for me (a visually impaired person) to read any of it without giving myself a headache. there's no way to scale up the UI, or even just make the text bigger. would love to see a high-contrast UI setting, or really any accessibility settings. this is the exact type of low-stress survival game a lot of disabled folks i know would enjoy, and it's a shame to see that so few of them would be able to play it. [*] i feel like the map is missing a lot, unless im the one missing things. it's nice to be able to see where i am, but if there's a way to mark certain locations i'm not seeing it. i get lost so easily! please let me waypoint my base! EDIT: i totally missed the map markers unlock, disregard this point! i do wish it was there from the very start, but i'm glad to see it's there and here's some of the things i'm being nitpicky about! they might bother some other people but are either easily fixable or not that deep: [*] the airship controls are a little clunky to me! the default sensitivity feels really high, and it doesn't come naturally to me. this is easily fixed by lowering the sensitivity (and simply taking time to get used to the controls), so it isn't a huge issue. i've found that inverting the airship y-axis makes it a little easier for me to understand :) [*] i really love that the decoration isn't grid-based, but i do find myself wishing for an togglable grid so i can align things more easily. i'll come back and update this if my opinion changes the further into the game i get!

TLDR; it's a cozy builder and nothing else. Pros: -The art style -Cozy vibes -Building - Runs fine Cons: - The progression is tedious, you will spend a large chunk of time just waiting for crops to grow. There are a finite amount of seeds in the world, so you will be waiting and waiting and waiting some more. - There are some bugs and inconsistencies in instances. For example; When logging back in, crop plots and some building items were stacked and between old and new save point - The only reason to explore is to get the next ore/vegetation to turn it in, to get more blueprints. - There is no story, no journals, no lore, no puzzles, no npcs, it is barren (ironically in a cozy farm building game) - Weird UI choices, you only build structures with the build tool, but decorations and other things are made at a crafting bench - You can't pull resources from storage when building - Could have a better soundtrack and soundscape - The price seems too high for what is offered: there are so many games that are on a completely different tier that have the redeeming features of this game in the same price range or cheaper. On the whole, I don't really recommend the game. So, why the positive review? Purely because of whoever on the dev or pr team released the statement about the game before release. They tried to warn players it was nothing except cozy building, but I really thought there would have to be more to the game, or maybe the building and exploration would be so good that it made up for the apparent lack of game, I was wrong... So if you read this far, I hope this helps.

I give this game a thumbs up but it’s a reluctant thumbs up. Here’s why. The game is fine. It’s average. It’s not broken, it’s not complicated or badly designed. But it’s a reluctant thumbs up because I personally don’t feel it’s worth its asking price. There’s simply nothing new or innovative in its gameplay, its graphics, its sound, its idea or pretty much anything. With the gameplay loop being really simple and kinda boring overall the game is just okay. But that’s why I still gave it a thumbs up. Because technically it did what it set out to do. It’s a fully finished game doing exactly what it advertised. So it gets its thumbs up. It’s not broken, it’s not trying to be anything fancy. But it has average graphics, average sound design, average gameplay mechanics, unoriginal idea and overall it’s just, okay. There’s not really a whole lot more I can say about it without going on a long tangent so I’d rather just say, this is an average game that’s slightly overpriced. But if you’d like a more in-depth review with actual gameplay then I encourage you to check out my review on my YouTube Channel (link below). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjyqlUKQz4w Otherwise, thanks so much for reading and I hope I was able to help you spend your money wisely.

- Game is exactly as marketed, relaxed and stress free - Infinite creativity - Progression is not difficult (sandbox is easy to unlock) - food, water, and health system is balanced and does not cause a lot of stress - Game is small file size - Graphics fit the style of the game amazingly - Tutorial and survival guide gives you all you need - Only thing you need to worry about is the weather and your health (Even if you pass out, getting your items back is easy) -multiplayer is fun, you can talk with your friends and simply just have a good time -Flying airships with friends can be tricky -Minor inconveniences such as fishing rod going through the map or having to double click the research table menu - Wish things like fences could be snapped together such as building walls and roofs are. - Wish player customization was a little more in depth (I know Devs said they are keeping it simple) - I hope exploration and some interesting landscapes are added although being optimistic - Overall phenomenal for having just released Mopsy is the GOAT even though he's a chicken
