I've been a huge Sonic fan since I was a kid. In fact, my all-time favorite game is Sonic 3 & Knuckles. There really isn't much to say about Sonic Mania that hasn't already been said: it takes all the best elements of classic Sonic throughout its history and perfects them to the fullest. Every little detail is polished. The controls are flawless, and the level design is incredibly creative. It’s literally THE ULTIMATE Sonic experience, it has everything a fan of the series loves and adores. My only complaint would be the lack of more 100% original levels, but even so, you’ll be completely satisfied with the reimagining of the classics. Great music, excellent graphics, and flawless gameplay. Every year I come back, again and again, and I always enjoy it just as much as the first time. A masterpiece.
This game gave me an enormous amount of enjoyment, mostly because of the nostalgic vibes, back in my childhood I played through all the Sonic games on the Sega Mega Drive (or genesis like it was in some others countries) and Sonic Mania brought all of those memories back in the best possible way. It absolutely nails that old-school charm. I also want to mention that the game is much easier and more casual compared to the original Sonic games on the Sega Mega Drive. Back then, collecting all the Chaos Emeralds and beating the whole game from start to finish in one go was genuinely tough. Sonic Mania feels way more forgiving in comparison and honestly, that made it even more enjoyable for me. The classic games used to slap way harder in terms of difficulty, while Sonic Mania is much more relaxed and accessible. But that doesn’t make it worse if anything, its makes it easier to just enjoy gameplay with pure fun and without burned ass lol A fantastic throwback to classic Sonic and a game I enjoyed from start to finish. Highly recommended 10/10
