Honestly, I don’t know why this game is so underrated, and it deserves all the praise because it might be the best game produced by Xbox after Forza. Drifted my car into a fucking lake on my very first drive because my NPC companion screamed "SLAM ON IT" for no reason and I panicked. 10/10 would let that NPC get eaten alive again. UPDATE: Playing the highest difficulty for the first time. Just got back from a run, my npc gets out of the car while I'm unloading the trunk and starts shooting something behind me. I assume it's a normal zed and casually turn around as a sprinting plague zombie on all fours leaps onto me like the zenomorph and slams my head into the concrete 6 times. My companion starts beating it off of me with a crowbar, so the execution move it's pulling on me keeps getting interrupted so it ends up bashing my head into the parking lot for two whole minutes while I'm screaming and begging as if it's happening in real life. By the time it lets go (it's still alive), I have 13 seconds until i turn to plague and drop like a brick in front of the infirmary while it pounces my companion and rips his head open like a kinder egg. I love this game.

The fact that they are *still* updating this (predominantly single player) game 6 year after launch with meaningful changes and content is amazing to me, and their most recent update log popping up is what prompted me to finally review. Nothing I've played before or since has given me that same experience of feeling like I'm building and surviving as a community in an immersive post apocalyptic world. Sure it doesn't have visceral combat like Dead Island 2, or the haunting atmosphere of The Last of Us, the over the top thrills of Black Ops zombies, or the grittiness and flexibility of Project Zomboid. What it does do however is combine just enough of each to create something truly special. Even if you're not a typical zombie game enjoyer, I think this is still absolutely worth trying out. I can't wait to see what they pull out of the bag for the next one!

Giving them a Farewell Positive Review this is very nearly everything you'd want in a zombie survival game, and it's "living" game cycle was very well done and not a cash grab at all.
