I have over 7500 hrs in PZ over 2 accounts. Let me start by saying this game COULD be a PZ killer, but it needs some love. 1st off, let me say that, in order to get the TRUE experience this game was meant to implement, do yourself a HUGE favor and install 2 mods: "Better Car Camera" and "Better Camera Control". (still works in update 1.02) The Devs never implemented this and it is insane to me and the reason I uninstalled the demo. Come on people...WHAT are you doing?!!!! The default camera is extremely limiting and cuts the 360 beauty of the environment (not to mention the obvious tactical implementations). With those mods installed, this game blossoms into something extraordinary. There is a ton I can comment about between PZ and HUmanitZ, but as a serious PZ online vet, let me just make a few points about the differences: Combat: HUmanitZ is the clear winner. Immersion: Again HumanitZ winner. Crafting: Close....HumanitZ does not have the mod support PZ does, but as a BASE game, HumanitZ is the winner, because you can hunt and skin and use nearly every environmental option for materials. Single player game: HumanitZ is a the clear winner....you dont ever even have to play online...there is so much to do and the included NPCs and Bandits make this a full single player experience. PZ gets SUPER boring in single player. Cars: PZ is the clear winner with its deep immersive parts and damage system. However, due to HumanitZ graphics, their cars do look better, but the deep immersion is not there, but its close. BUT, HUmanitz has HORSES you can ride!!! Amazing. Character development: Close. PZ has a ton of professions, traits and super satisfying progression. HumanitZ has less development, but its different and its simplicity does not detract from the game at all. Its immersive and satisfying. PZ is more about "meta gaming", while Humanitz focuses on personal development "naturally". Items in game: Close....PZ has a TON of items to find and use and so does HumanitZ, however, HumanitZ wins in the NOVELTY of the items, their use and immersion. Guns FEEL better and are more accurately modeled. Meelee weapons are about the same as PZ. "STYLE" of the game: PZ is the winner, as STYLE on multiplayer is one of the coolest things about PZ. People in PZ OFTEN look unique and players typically forgo combat effectiveness for looks. How unique you look in PZ multi, clearly defines you between a vet and a "noob". PZ is a "flashy" and "fantasy-like" appearance. I often say its SIMS with zombies. Zombies: HumanitZ is a clear winner with its large variety of zeds (more like State of Decay) that LOOK like they belong in a movie, while PZ zeds are pretty much the same. HumanitZ is an "up and comer", that can eventually beat out PZ, but I have not tried multi yet. I want to beat the huge map 1st and with 76hrs in of failing and learning, Ive STILL only uncovered about 1/4 of the map, so yeah....huge game with tons of immersion. Its more of a apocalypse simulator, rather than SIMS in a zombie apocalypse. Mods: this is unfair as PZ has had many years of dedicated modders and players, but dev team.....IMPLEMENT those modded camera controls (I dont care what you have to do or pay, just do it! LOL), and you have a game that could easily be a new generation of zombie apocalypse game. With more players, come more modders and the default camera is stifling its creativity. UPDATE: 4-13-26 This game was so hard in the beginning that I played on beginner level (where you respawn with your stuff.) It was a good "tutorial", but now Im deep in with standard mode and have only died once in 92 days. I STILL have not visited the whole map...THAT is how much stuff you need to do to survive. OH and btw....you get your own "horde night" every few days or so...randomly WHEREEVER you are on the map....terrifying, but thats just how this game forces you to keep on your toes and fortify your base. Once you get the hang of combat AND lots and lots of ammo, everything is exponentially easier. Until then, you rely on running away a lot LOL. The seasons pass almost too fast, but again....winter is brutal and you need the proper gear and shelter. The quick seasons keep the game fresh IMO. I still havent played multiplayer. I will soon, but I have to beat the single player (for me). Ive seen the whole map, but still dont have the gear for radiation or all the parts to get the radio tower working. You see, the NPCs you meet along the way can give you quests for XP, but there is a main quest system. And that brings me to the loot. Its tough. Its hard to find some things and you have limited carry space, so every item becomes a decision. But once you have you base safe and secure, a car or two, your horse and you're crafting the critical supplies, you find that searching for loot becomes a lot less stressful and MUCH more rewarding when you do find "that thing you needed". So, yeah...huge thumbs up so far. This game is 100% worth spending the time to learn it. You know what its a lot like (in terms of survival)...Day Z

Its a good game, would be a great game if they would give us 15 degrees more on our camera angle. EDIT: There is a TPC angle mod now. All Hail the mod author!

TL;DR: A highly customizable solo-friendly survival game with great atmosphere, meaningful tension, and a strong gameplay loop. Some jank, bugs, and lack of variety hold it back, but the devs are responsive and the foundation is excellent. 8/10 — easy to sink hundreds of hours into. Those of you who like detail: Before anything else, I want to say that the devs genuinely listen to community feedback and are extremely responsive, which honestly deserves recognition. I really hope the developers read this review, because it’s coming from a place of appreciation for what they’ve built so far. For those who care about a number, I’d personally give HumanitZ a solid 8/10. First things first: I’m a solo-only player, and I’m also fully aware this is an indie game made by a small dev team. With that comes limited time, manpower, and resources — and I think some people forget that when leaving reviews. I honestly don’t understand a lot of the negative feedback saying the game is “too easy” or that “there’s no loot.” The game allows you to extensively tweak the settings, and you can even do this on the fly during a playthrough. If the experience feels too easy, that’s largely on the player. For me, HumanitZ hits the sweet spot perfectly: not overly simple, but not unnecessarily complex either. With the 1.0 release, the game has seen a ton of meaningful improvements. Nights now feel genuinely dangerous and scary, overall difficulty has increased, and the enemy AI has improved significantly. I’ve spent the last 12 hours playing nonstop, completely losing track of time — which is always the sign of a great survival game. The early-game scavenging phase, especially getting your first vehicle up and running, is incredibly tense. Hunting down all the required parts and finally getting it operational gives you a real sense of achievement that a lot of games miss. I also really appreciate how flexible the settings are — being able to adjust difficulty mid-game is something many survival games simply don’t allow. There’s just enough customization to fine-tune the experience exactly how I like it, though I would love to see the ability to adjust values for individual special zombies in the future. Now, for the negatives — because they do exist. The controls can feel clunky at times, and the game can be a bit janky overall. There are also a fair number of bugs. I’ve lost my backpack more times than I care to remember. While the map itself is large and offers plenty of places to loot, it feels like there aren’t enough big, unique points of interest. There are underground bunkers, but most of the time you just stumble into them by luck rather than intentionally discovering them. Another issue is gear variety and balance. There’s a clear BiS (best-in-slot) backpack — once you get the Adventure backpack, there’s really no reason to use anything else. The same applies to armor: once you have advanced armor, everything else becomes irrelevant. This ties into what I think is the game’s biggest weakness right now: lack of variety. There simply aren’t enough meaningful alternatives or build choices. That said, the pieces that are in the game are fantastic, and the core gameplay loop is extremely solid. Despite its flaws, I can honestly see myself sinking another 150+ hours into HumanitZ as it continues to grow. If you enjoy customizable survival experiences and don’t mind some jank in exchange for strong fundamentals, this game is absolutely worth your time.

8/10. People compare it to Zomboid, but I feel its a bit more like "how to survive". just everything I wished it was and more. I have qualms with moving the crosshair, but I understand Why it is that way. I would only desire 1 main thing... a choice to angle the camera at 10-15...I also understand that comes with other issues, like going full TPS. While I don't expect this to take place, it would destroy State of decay if it allowed that route. 8/10 before my 10 hour mark....I only expect it to go up from here! great work!

At first I was hesitant to try because of the camera angle, I thought I wanted to play something more "immersive". I also didn't know what to expect from the multiplayer option (I really wanted multiplayer experience), I thought it was first a single-player title. After days of thinking, I downloaded the demo and boy am I glad I did.... I am having an absolute blast!!! I can't put the game down, I haven't found a title with the same effect for a long time before HumanitZ. I played around with the single-player for a bit so I get how the game works, etc..there's definitely a learning curve, I did not find the game easy at all on default settings as a beginner, but it wasn't overly challenging either. I did find watching youtube videos and seeing how "pros" play very helpful. After a few days of building up my confidence, I wanted to try the multiplayer. There are official servers, too so I joined a PVE one and omg it's been such a fun experience!! Loot is scarcer, because if another player empties the loot spot before you, it's gone. However, you can team up with others, help each other out..and also, if you stumble across a dead player, you can take all their stuff. You can walk back to your own death spot, too and reclaim whatever you lost, unless someone else had got their first..you get the idea. Anyway, after being ravaged by zombie deers and bandits while wandering the wilderness alone, I found a good starter base spot. I had a sleeping bag and a campfire and things were looking up, until on the 3rd night a horde of zombies fell through my window while I slept xDD I ran outside, jumped on top of a car and happened to have a molotov cocktail in my pocket..ahh what a sight it was. The next day I started working on reinforcing and building up my base and since then I have become unstoppable (except when it's bandits..). Fridge and cupboards stocked, workbenches up, storage chests overflowing, winter clothes ready..then I hear a whistle outside. It's a player, freshly spawned in the middle of winter with nothing but pants and a T-shirt, shivering outside my door. I let him in, fed and clothed him, equipped him with weapons and bandages and we looted together for a few hours.. :)) My goal for now is to get a car working and start exploring the rest of the map, which is already huge in my opinion despite the game being early access. I'll be heading to the nearby gas station as soon as I log back in after finishing this review and I am so hyped :DD 6th of Feb cannot come fast enough!! I totally agree with other comments that the devs really listen and care about their game and the community and so I am really excited to see everything they have prepared for 1.0. Their discord is great, too, any questions/problems get addressed almost straight away by the official team. 10/10 RECOMMEND!!!!!!! I really hope HumanitZ will see the success it deserves, so we can play out our zombie apocalypse fantasies for many years to come :')
