I downloaded DayZ thinking it was a survival game. Turns out, it’s actually a walking simulator where everyone eventually tries to kill you. I spawned with nothing, found some beans, and thought I was rich. Then I met a random player who said, “Friendly?” We teamed up Then we found a gun. He picked it up, looked at me, and shot me Later, I met another player and decided I wouldn't trust anyone. We teamed up anyway, found some good loot, and made it to a military base. He also shot me DayZ. You never know what's going to happen, who you can trust, or how you'll die. 10/10. Would get betrayed again.

DayZ 3,000 Hours Later This game just keeps on giving. At first it’s brutal. There’s no tutorial or hand-holding. You learn by dying again and again, but that’s part of what makes it so good. The learning curve is steep, but once you start figuring things out it becomes incredibly rewarding. There’s always something new to learn like sickness, hypothermia, fractures, finding food, clean water and of course surviving other players. You can’t trust anyone in DayZ, but sometimes giving a little trust can lead to some of the best and most memorable moments you’ll ever have in a game. Every time you log in it feels like a new story. No two sessions are ever the same and that’s what keeps it fresh even after all these years. The game is around 13 years old now and still has a huge player base which says a lot. I recommend joining a community server with active admins as it makes a big difference. Most have Discords where you can meet people and group up. Personally I play on the Vanilla Renegade server and it has everything I need. After 3,000 hours I still haven’t gotten bored. It’s one of those games where you never really know what’s going to happen next. Think about it. You can spend the same amount of money on a cinema ticket, drink and popcorn for two hours of fun. DayZ gives you thousands of hours of chaos, stories and pure survival. Totally worth it.
This is not a game you can win. This is not a game with a clear goal, Theres no mission, no objective. This is one of those games where the enjoyment is in the journey. You wont remember getting that top tier weapon. You wont remember getting your car to run. You will remember that weird guy eating spaghetti. You will remember that crazy squad that tied people and then released them and gave them a gun and bid them farewell. You will remember the many betrayals. You will remember losing yourself and becoming a KOS player. You will remember that time both of you lowered your guns. This game is intentionally clunky and obscure. Its true purpose is to enjoy the social interactions in situations where a bad decision will cost your life. And get a mic.
