Does 30 fps suck? Yes, of course it does. Does this game suck? No, of course it doesn't. Edit: it runs at 60 using Lossless Scaling. It's glorious.

This is absolutely one of the best games I've played in my entire life. One of the best stories and cast of characters I've ever seen. How the characters bond, argue, interact with eachother and grow. The depth of the story. Even the NPCs matter. The world feels immersive and real. The soundtrack is beautiful and incredible. It was one of my first RPGS ever on the gamecube when I was younger! I love the art style and character models and art still and I think it holds up. The battle system is fun and a lot more exciting to me than a turn based rpg is. The voice acting is so insanely good, their is so much emotion and thought put into every part of this game. I don't think there is a single part of this game I don't like. The twists and turns of the stories are ones I would have never expected. Something where the story and characters did not feel predictable. It felt unique, especially for it's time. Now, I try to play JRPGS and RPGS looking for this. I liked Tales of the Abyss and Phantasia as well but this one is definitely my favorite. I loved playing this game next to my sister as the co op allows other people to help you as another party member in battle! We'd switch off playing 1st player and take turns, and beat it more than once together. I'd love to share that experience with someone again one day, bc it's some of the best memories of my life. This game always made me want to make a video game one day tbh, idk if I will ever learn game dev, but I am beginning to learn code at least. Anyways, if your debating, pick it up. I'm hoping it's not to outdated for some folks, but I don't think this game is a 'it's just nostalgia' what I feel for a lot of other games I like. I hope everyone gets to experience this game!

I am amazed how good is 2003 year JRPG at writing and level design compared to our current year JRPGs, it makes me sad. + Very enjoyable characters, main story. Skits between characters are really good and it gives them much more character development. + Level design in each dungeon with puzzles are really enjoyable too, nothing too obnoxious or complicated. - My biggest issue with the game is the gameplay itself unfortunately, this is a party based action combat game, which u have to rely on ai party members to do some of the stuff, and they are not good at that. You choose a strat for your mages to stay behind all the time and spam spells, but they just run into melee and hit with their staff even when they are full mana. You tell them to cast xx spell, and they dont do it for some reason, i had to tell to do specific stuff 4 times back to back before ai did it. This is just one of the annoying things, i dont want to go into more details but if you can endure this, there is a good story, world and characters waiting for you to explore. I would still say, it's worth your time.

I am still learning the game but the first few hours have been very enjoyable and present a promising story. The game seems to have a lot of depth and it feels like there is a lot to do and fun to be had.

I bought this when it came out on gamecube over 20 years ago. I never beat it because i was a kid with a short attention span. It's been so fun getting back into it and finally attempting to finish it after all these years. It's a really good game if you like JRPGs!
