I was there when floppy disks ruled and insults were a combat skill. Monkey Island still slaps harder than LeChuck’s ghostly beard—razor-sharp writing, timeless puzzles, and Guybrush being gloriously clueless. Special Edition lets me switch nostalgia on and off like a CRT. A pirate classic, forever. 🏴‍☠️🍌 Follow my curator page for more legendary insults, ghost pirates, and classics that never needed patch notes. 🏴‍☠️🗺️✨ https://store.steampowered.com/curator/42602807-Osiris-Reviews/

I've always wanted to complete this game 100%. I owned it as a kid on an old PC my uncle gave me. Unfortunately, it was in English, and I was only about four or five years old. Back then, it ran on the legendary Windows 95, so it brings back a lot of great memories. Seeing the old scenery again and finally being able to play it properly is just stunning, a truly wonderful experience.

I am writing this review through nostalgia goggles, however I can confidently say that this game is phenomenal. If you played this in the 90s/early 2000s pick this up on sale for a couple of quid/dollars. You're getting two games. The one we remember and its upgraded version. I was often flitting between both modes for that nostalgic hit. But be under no illusion this is a point and click game from the 90s wearing a pretty coat. Graphics - Most things look far better no matter what anyone says beauty is in the eye of the beholder and any negative reviews complaining about that should be disregarded as you can revert it back to its original art style through one button click. I will concede that they have twinkified our main man but I can look past that. Voice acting - Yes it's a nice addition but again it's a point and click adventure game from the 90s if you can't read you probably shouldn't be playing puzzle games that rely heavily on your reading comprehension. Difficulty - I've seen several negative reviews about how this game is abstract and doesn't hold your hand. THAT'S THE POINT! with a guide you can sail through this game and get change out of 3 hours but that's on you. There are written guides, videos guides and community guides that will hold your hand through this but i think most people leaving negative reviews because they 'had too look up a guide' missed the point and then blame the game. They've also missed a huge QOL improvement. Press H and the game will physically tell you the answers to the puzzles and even show physical arrow pointing you where to go. A lot of the negative reviews are from people who expected this 30 year old game with a nice coat to play like a modern indie. It doesn't. They've ignored the help the game gives you and then blamed the game. If you're sitting on the fence just buy it. If nothing else then to see where puzzle games started and appreciate where they've gone.

This game originally ran on a 20mhz CPU, in 256 color mode (originally released in only 16 colors), 35 years ago. It's the same game with the option to play with modern art and controls so if the pixel art isn't your thing you can still enjoy this classic top tier classic.

I love the "breaking the 4th wall" humour in this game. It all feels so ahead of it's time. A masterpiece in light of the year it was created.
