Unrailed 2 has the same basic gameplay as Unrailed: you and your crew hurry to gather resources to build a train track and get to a station before you reach the end of the line and crash. You have to deal with obstacles in the environment and upgrade your train at stations you find along the way. However, almost every system in the game has been expanded. There are more biomes, more train cars, more challenges, and more ways to upgrade. You can customize your cars by leveling them and by giving them extra add-ons, and you can upgrade your character with special active and passive abilities. Each station gives you the ability to buy or customize different parts of your train, and you have some choice over the difficulty in each level. Each biome also ends with a boss fight, which adds a unique challenge and grants special rewards. Coming from the first game, I was very overwhelmed the first time I tried this one. There are a lot of different systems to learn and some abilities got reworked. Even with the tutorial, it was a lot to get used to. However, now that I've gotten used to the game, I think I like it even more than the first one. The hectic, co-op gameplay has the same energy, but the challenges are more dynamic. I love all the new biomes, even though some of them are very challenging, and the boss fights are fun and make finishing a biome more exciting. The different upgrades for your train are a lot of fun as well, and I've had a lot of fun experimenting with how to combine upgrades to give your train special abilities. I would sum up Unrailed 2 as "basically the same but better." Building the track, progressing through the levels, and strategizing with your friends feels the same, but with a lot more variety and challenge. If you loved the first game, you'll love the second just as much, and if you got tired of the first one, the sequel may hold your attention a little longer. 10/10

I like this game a lot. It's a great party game, and its just a ton of fun to play with friends. However, I must tell the truth when I say that this game does not play nice with my computer. I use Linux, and as such I have to play this game through wine. However, many reviews here report similar issues even with Windows operating systems. The game would boot up, but never show anything other than a black screen. Music would play, and I could hear the sounds of interacting with menus, but simply nothing would show up on the screen. I had to start it up in safe mode several times and mess around with graphical settings until booting it in regular mode would show me something other than black. Now, obviously there was a solution to this, and its working now, but figuring that out was such a headache. And, its not even exclusive to Linux users, as many Windows users complain of startup issues too! Is this a fun game? Yes, of course, as long as you have friends to play it with. But I must warn potential buyers of the issues with this game. Yes, it is in Early Access as of writing this, but we're only a couple weeks away from the full release and these issues are still prevalent. Just, be careful.

Superior to the first game in every way. Having the ability to strengthen and customize not only your train wagons, but also your own character through the action/passive cartridge system, adds a whole new dimension to each run. In addition, the redesigned path progression system that offers players 3-4 different paths with each one frequently having maps of differing difficulties and rewards, some with multiple consecutive stations, gives everyone the choice to go for that record-breaking run or keep everything chill and relaxed.

According to my friends, it's a very relaxing game where you just mindlessly chop woods or mine rocks. I was doing everything else and can't relate at all.
