https://youtu.be/AV83-1bophk The video is a playthrough of the first map. The game is worth it for the music alone. This is a bullet heaven game where you get to drive a castle on wheels. There is a lot of charm here with the graphics and the whimsical music. It is a minimalist look and it works for the aesthetics of the game Unlike most bullet heaven games you have control over your abilities (you can get up to 4) as you press the button to activate them between cooldowns. There is also a turbo button to speed up your rolling castle. You also have an auto fire of arrows and canons as well that auto aim like most bullet heaven games have but you can manage your cooldowns as well for more firepower. I kind of got a Katamari Damacy vibe when you suck people up. No matter if it is sheep or people this gives you Xp (coins) to level to get new perks. The perks are simple like more damage or another weapon to add to your arsenal. There are items as well you can get from chests that gives permanent power ups such as 20 more nitro, get 5 nitro from destroying a vehicle and 20% more damage from all side modules. This is not the game where you build crazy synergies and break the game but instead you are building a more powerful castle to help you survive the waves and bosses. You also get to upgrade your vehicle itself and get bigger when you beat a boss in a section. This gives you more power to survive. Although I was disappointed I could not make a broken build you do notice a power difference from a start of a run to the end of the run. You can unlock different starting vehicles and captains in between runs to add to the replay value. The captains have perks that really make a difference such as the first one you unlock that does double canon damage but takes double damage as well. You can also change your crew, modules, an artifact and the vehicle itself so lots of options to mix things up between runs. There are different maps too with different difficulties as well. The game can be played with keyboard and mouse as well as a controller. It works well with the xbox controller. The vehicle is always moving and you swerve it left and right. In terms of difficulty do not be fooled by how each the first map is. It feels like a roll in the park with lots of health pick ups everywhere but when you move to the second map in the forest the game gets A LOT harder. It was quite the job. Though there are positives there are negatives as well as the game does not have a high variety in bad guys you fight over the run. These games do have a tendency to get repetitive but this one did feel more so faster than others. Plus the lack of broken builds does lower the excitement you would get end game from other bullet heaven roguelites. There is a demo so you can try it and see if you like it. The castle growing and it moving by itself does feel unique and as I mentioned, I do like the controls and the graphics, but you might not get hooked for the long run. However it is reasonably priced too at only $15 and is on an introduction sale right now with 35% off.

always wondered how mortal engine would play as a game while this is not steampunk theme it's close enough to Municipal Darwinism, "Prepare to Ingest!"

Music is absolutely bonkers, it's so fun! Game is suffering typical early access bugs like formatting issues with various translations but is generally pretty entertaining. Runs very good on Steam Deck! Let's see how this ages

The general overview for the game atm: - The Castle levels up from gold gained on the run. Each Level up allows you to pick upgrades. These upgrades come in different rarities, and a higher rarity means a bigger boost. Instead of upgrades, you can select a new attachment if the slot is still free. - Every 5 upgrades for a specific attachment, you get a to pick a special upgrade for the depending attachment. - The attachments have passive attacks and active attacks. as the names give away, you gotta trigger the active attacks yourself and the passive attacks happen by themselves. - You can boost your castles movement to get around faster which also allows to dodge attacks better. - You are able to unlock lots of options for your castle as a selectable before each run, allowing you to start each run differently than the one before. - Bosses will come on the map for you to fight. They have a timer before they pop up and will chase you. - Killing a Boss allows you to pick a Vehicle upgrade that changes the focus of your castle. an example would be a defensive or a movement focus that will change its stats depending on it. Till now, these two options are the only options i have seen but id think/expect there to be more. - You will also be fully healed after killing a boss. - The worst bug experienced so far was just the wrong text displayed. - So far, combat was fun and enemies felt different from each other. - There are health Boxes on the map to heal yourself with. They are pretty rare however so the game doesn't feel too easy atm. - Daily quests exist but as this is day one of the game, i obviously cant say much about how they play out over a longer time yet. - Some attachments seem to be locked on the runs and possibly have to be unlocked before you can actually pick them on the levelup screen. - No real graphic settings which can be expected of a game that has this style. Resolution, Screenmode, Language, Screenshake and Vsync are the options you get. Audio has its three separate sliders for master, music and sound effects. - No performance issues but i got a high end PC so that wouldve been wild lol. loading screens are fast but again, high end PC.
