Basically, this game is like The Expendables movies. Most of the time nothing makes sense, but somehow it’s entertaining and the characters are likable. The gameplay is exactly what you’d expect from people who worked on the Ninja Gaiden games. Maybe not worth the full price, but if you're into good old 2000's vibes then is a must at a sale.

$40 game? I don't know about that, but if you can pick this up on sale you're going to have fun if you love 360/ps3 era jank. I mean that in the most genuine way possible. I can feel the game closing to an end. I've had my frustrations with a few parts, but it's not impossible. Through the awkward voice acting, the charming characters, and the 80's cyberpunk vibes I can see a gem in here. There will be people 10 years from now saying Wanted Dead is an underrated classic. I picked it up for $6, but I'd be willing to spend as high as $15-$20 on it if that gives you a better sense of it's value. Don't skip this one.

A glorious contradiction of high camp and divine mediocrity. We are not dealing with corniness, but a whole cornfield in every aspect of it's construct. Both the style and substance of Wanted: Dead are so impossible to quantify, so rarely remarkable, yet at the same time I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ adore it. There is so much charisma in the characters (it feels like they're laying the foundation of a franchise that will probably never be), the odd minigames (epic Tampopo reference!) and the impossible-to-follow story. Every cutscene made me cackle purely through the aura it emits. Hanna herself is so overdesigned in such a tasteful way and I adore looking at her and noticing new details. Playing on easy mode to give her cat ears is the only correct way to play, actually. I have no nostalgia for the PS3 B-game golden age, but I remember watching the first five minutes of ThorHighHeels' and Jacob Geller's videos before stopping and deciding this is something I needed. I think it's the palpable passion in the water. It is unhateable, not even in a "we'll have fun bashing it" kinda way. It's obsessed with it's own characters and builds a world around them through pamphlets, action figures and a render of them in the Supa Hot Fire meme. There's anime scenes intersperced in half the cutscenes and a strong sense that it wants to say something. The final boss is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ space nazi Virgil who comes out of practically nowhere. Most importantly, however, it does whatever the hell it wants. I can't think of a dev team it seems it would be more fun to be on. It's Suda with a more global, more social, less masculine feel. I have a suspicion that the design intentionally mirrors the jankiness of a game like Bullet Witch, that the claims that it's a "bad game" or "so bad it's good" are judgements of the genre more than the piece. What I feel I see is a revival of the mid-'00s style, the first big 7th-gen-like, similar to the stylistic reclamation of 4th, 5th and now 6th gen mechanics and artstyles taking hold in the indie and AA scene. The cycle is turning, products are being made to rekindle an era, so if we look at it in terms of a stylistic reclamation, this does pretty damn well.

NGL, at first I hated this game. But once I got a feel for the combat flow, I quickly fell in love with it. The enemies are SUPER spongy, requiring you to look for an opportunity to put them into a weakened state where they be instantly killed with a flashy finishing maneuver. Once I understood this, the game is a ton of fun as Hannah whisks around the battlefield delivering brutal takedowns to multiple foes. I definitely can see the "so bad it's good" argument, but this game has a lot of charm. I found myself wanting more after the credits rolled.

It's rough, it's unpolished, it's unfinished, it's borderline incomprehensible... but it's got a lot of heart.
