You know, i didn't buy this second game for the longest time. I thought the devs for some reason turned what was one of the best games i've ever played into a soulless Hades ripoff in the sequel mechanics wise. I have to say after playing it, although different it's solid. And i can really tell with the level design, the arcana, the voice acting, the customization options and just the general vibe that some real heart and effort was put into this. Its not the first Wizard of Legends game, but it's not necessarily far worse off for it, just different. But i'm definitely liking this and might grow to love it as much as the first game after playing some more All this with the caveat being tho, i haven't played multiplayer yet, ain't got no one to play it with 😢

I played the first game and loved it. I have put some hours into this one and genuinely cannot see what the negative reviews are complaining about. The combat feels better than the first game, the visual update is fantastic, and the hub has been dramatically expanded. Adding the Medallion system to allow for full cosmetic customization without suffering in stats is a gigantic improvement as well. I have not yet played multiplayer, so I cannot comment on the supposed bugs found in that mode, but I plan to soon and will update my review once I do. As for the difficulty, I want to preface that I in the first game. I never got to Master Sura even once, not even after over 100 runs...Just could never consistently get past the 2nd consecutive boss without Mentis Imperium (the charm ability) killing mobs for me. This game seems significantly more fair with mob density and attack patterns from the beginning and allows you to ramp up the difficulty at your own pace. In comparison, I am now able to clear both stage 1 bosses (only did this once in the original game) and run into the random bosses in stage 2 while getting the Wizard bosses in stage 2 to about 1/2-1/4 before dying. I have not yet played with every arcana of each element, so I cannot comment on the balance as a whole, but I can say that Fireball becoming a basic arcana instead of a Standard in the first game is a gigantic buff and maybe a tad OP. This could be just for the early access edition to ensure more players make good progression, but I hope it's not. It's incredibly important to make every player feel they are progressing, especially if said progression is slower than the average player. The job board mechanic is also fantastic for giving the players achievable goals they can grind for (if needed) so they can still get consistent unlocks, even if they cannot clear everything consistently.

Went in expecting a lot of negative experiences but had just the opposite. No bugs and a lot more content and spells than I was expecting. Was expecting no new spells, but there are a lot of new ideas and variants on the old ones. The dash spells feel good and it feels true to the original in terms of combat. If you get over the new level layout it just feels like a wizard of legend 1.5 with a hades mod which isn’t the worst outcome for less than $30. I’ll take any more wizard of legend I can get.

This game so far it's an insane level up in terms of quality in many aspects compared to the first Wizard of Legend, I'm really, really having fun with it and enjoying the new upgrades to spells, but it's lacking enough content so that the first game still calls to me while trying this new game. Strenghts: - The game currently looks fantastic and it flows amazingly - I'm liking the character designs and voice acting - More bosses in between levels is fun - Different upgrades for spells is amazing, such as being able to hold multiple signature arcana basically or variations to standard or basic spells - I love that the purple portal holds multiple challenges mid-runs, same with the wizard NPC challenges, even more variety to these would be fun - Fun gameplay and combat very familiar to the first game Weaknesses: - Spell Variety. I think one of the main things that will make the game feel more complete will always be more variety to spells, which this game still has some space for. I LOVE the spell upgrade mechanic of this game, since it adds more spells basically by making already existing ones a bit different, but I fear this might delay the development of both new spells and the return of spells from the first game. - Relic Variety. More relics for more wacky builds will always be fun. I think adding more relics that interact with different elements at the same time is a fun addition to the game, I'd like to see more of them but since they are very specific, I would maybe like to reroll or refresh the store at some cost in case I am not going for that specific build. Some ideas could be more relics that interact with specific debuffs like slow, maybe a return to poison, more mono-element builds relics. At the moment I find myself always prioritizing getting spells rather than relics, but I feel that more relics could make specific builds centered on different aspects like dodging, projectiles, summons, melee or debuffs more viable and fun. - Character depth. The game holds new characters with great visuals but that's all there is to them. I understand if the game leans heavily on gameplay rather than on lore or narrative, but more interactions between NPCs such as them talking to you mid trial could make the game more fun (already in the game), or maybe finding them talking to each other at the lobby. Tho again if the game wants to focus on gameplay I wouldn't know how much to focus on this. - Limited content. Even if there are multiple bosses per run there's still only 2 stages so far. Level boss variety could also be fun but that doesn't hold high priority at this early stage of the game. (With the Sky Citadel Update, that'd be 3 stages and one more final boss and miniboss) TLDR: Wizard of Legend 2 so far is the first game on steroids, very engaging combat and fun gameplay except it still lacks content and variety which is what makes the first game so enjoyable. This game is still great fun in this state so I am looking forward for new spells and upgrades to try out, So far props to the dev team! Keep it up and thank you! EDIT: The original devs from WoL do get some money from this game as well, but be sure to try the first game if you haven't. Even if WoL2 can feel like WoL on steroids in many general qualities, it only shares part of the essence from the original (so far, and I hope they keep listening to feedback), it's not an upgraded version of the first one all around, so by all means give the first one a try as well.

Someone needs to clear the air here because these reviews are extremely disapointing and biased... NO! This game DID NOT copy Hades; Hades is a great game, but does not own the genre. This game is more like the original Wizard of Legend (which btw, is older than Hades) than it is like Hades. Agree, the new art style is similar, but that's all that I see and I don't think it's a bad thing. I'm hoping the overall reviews on this will go up but that's only going to happen if people stop unjustifiably comparing this work to Hades...it's not the only roguelike game. YES! It is a good game...so far. Since it's early access, I'm anticipating more content and will gladly exercise some patience for that, but I expected that going in. Great work so far devs, keep up the good work!
