The Most Underrated Masterpiece in the Series As an AC series lover I must say that Assassin's Creed Rogue is the most underrated game in the entire franchise. If you liked Black Flag, you will definitely enjoy this one too. Why you should play it: [*] Amazing Story : This game shows the "other side" of the war. You play as Shay Patrick Cormac, a former Assassin who joins the Templars. [*] Deep Character : The internal conflict of Shay is written very well. You really feel his pain and his reasons for changing sides. It’s not just "good vs. evil"; it’s much more complex. [*] Fun Gameplay : The gameplay is almost the same as Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. If you love sailing ships, exploring cold oceans, and naval combat, this is perfect for you. [*] Great Atmosphere : Exploring the icy waters of the North Atlantic is beautiful and feels different from the Caribbean. [*] Impressive Musics : The music is truly impressive and fits the exciting moments of the game perfectly. These powerful melodies get stuck in your head and make the action feel much more intense. This game got overlooked by people due to it releasing at the same time as assassin's creed unity and that's sad because despite it being short and very similar to black flag It's good. it should've been a longer game and they could've done more with the character dynamics but they did well with how short it was Shay is a really good lead and I liked how didn't have this cliche full hatred for the assassin's but he had an actual reason to go against Achilles's mentorship. the assassin's using dirty tricks and ways to influence and control makes them seem more real rather than having them painted as the good guys who can do no wrong all the time. Haytham Kenway is sooo good he's really one of the best characters in the series and i'm happy we got more out of him. I wish they would've given this game more time and fully expanded on it and given it the length of any other assassin's creed game but it served its purpose as a stepping stone for unity and the next gen ac games.
This is the good Ubisoft I miss. I enjoyed 95% of the game, sure its not perfect but its a real Assassin's Creed game with a point of view of a Templar. I got no urges to cut my balls off or to put a fork into the eletrical socket, unlike when I suffered something like 85 hours on AC Valhalla/Odyssey for a story that made me ♥♥♥♥ liquid for a whole week. Probably many people may not like to play as a traitor that joins the Templars, but thats because their shaft is bending 42 degrees to the right and its painful when they pee, real straight pp boys understand both factions and apreciate the option to see everything from different eyes.
