I HAVE NO WORDS FOR HOW AMAZING THIS IS. My only hope is that he (the god among men that is Hannes Breuer) keeps developing this after he is finished with the game he built this for. Even if it's in the form of DLCs that will give packs of extra content. But, at this point, he has opened it up to the Steam Workshop, so I'm over here downloading all kinds of extra stuff completely free made by the community (like cars, battlefield units, animals, ruins, and full-on structures). With the Workshop open the possibilities are endless and will only get better. Pros: -Grid or no grid. Snap or freehand. -Layers. You want to build a layered interior of each house, done. You want to flip a switch for festival decor, or ruined houses from a battle, or water for a flood? Done. -City Filler. Literally make a full city in minutes if you're so inclined. Draw out residential, farm, merchant, camp, and forest zones and it will fill in automatically. Everything from buildings, decor, and population. -EASY. No coding. Very intuitive UI. -Printable or virtual export. You have one of those screen-tables or you play online? Export it as a video. The chimneys smoke, the trees wiggle, the birds fly, clouds float by, adjust the time of day as needed. Move your virtual character tokens throughout your creation. -Import your own stuff, or other peoples' that they share! Including colored objects. -Scale. This is not a tiny tool. You can make country-sized maps, with details as small as the bread on someone's plate. EDIT: ok, not Country-sized, but still REALLY big. Cons (will update if they get fixed): -Auto-fill can be a bit wonky. Can be lessened by turning down density and turning off "Fill Edge". Plan on tweaking a lot of overlapping buildings, decor, and citizens. -Has a hard time Exporting on "Max DPI", crashing every time. This is probably my poopy computer though. -Spent an hour arguing with the "Set Height" tool, but that's probably on me. EDIT: Realized there was a height limit. Really limits the possibilities of tall castles, layered hills and mountain faces, etc. I would really like to see the height cap raised. -NO TUTORIAL. Good luck on YouTube. To be fair, there were only a few things I needed to look up. Just start a "Test" map and dick around with every tool. Then go make a city. -Also, starts lagging a little after placing 8k+ objects on a single map. Again, probably my own poopy computer. 9/10 Honestly, a raised height limit and a ~10 minute in-game tutorial would bump this to a full 10/10. Broke my own rule and bought this at full price. AND I'D DO IT AGAIN. This is beyond Brilliant.

TLDR; Great tool, good looking, reactive developer. The good: The tool is overall pretty intuitive to use. It allows quick creations of cities by automatically adding buildings on side of roads. The art-style is pretty unique too. The hand-drawn assets give it a charm that few other tools have. The developer of the project is super reactive and listens to his community. I really believe that there is a lot of care going into the project (which is always a good sign). The bad: This is still early-access. Features are still missing. Most specifically, there is no official tutorial or guide apart from the first "welcome screen". Due to the nature of the project, it's a new tool that you will need to learn to use. Would I recommend it ? It depends what you are looking for: if you are willing to take the time to get into the project and if you like the art style - then definitely YES. If you are looking for a tool that does everything for you and auto-generates a world, then no.

This is a must have tool for anyone running a table top game like D&D. My wife and I have really upped out game with this and a portable external monitor. The team behind C.O.K. clearly understand their clientele with each update new features are added that make sense.

Learning curve isn't too steep. Good software for beginner mapmakers like myself, strikes a good balance between accessible and powerful. The assets are quite good and the environmental controls are very comprehensive. If you want to make a map with a certain vibe to it, use this. I made a post asking the dev to uncap object scales and they responded immediately and added the option to do so. They care about the project and are actively engaged with the community.

Great tool for DM's looking to speed up their map-making process. I normally hand draw important maps, but struggled to find the motivation to do the same for minor locations. This is perfect for that! Really keeps that table top feel, and is surprisingly powerful! One note however, there are some things the engine purely does not support right now, so keep that in mind. Most of the things it does not support are still technically possible however, due to its inbuilt asset creator/editor. Just requires some fenangling. Regardless, the Dev is very active in the community and has been constantly posting updates. Thank you Dev! Wonderful tool you've built here.
