I gave it a Yes but it's really mixed from me: Can't create your own characters, so re-roll until you get bored and settle. I guess, ok. Almost nothing is explained in game yet, so you have to use the in game wiki or youtube. That will change I'm sure. Way to many annoying nagging restrictions on everything. In Rimworld if you want to build something you build it, in this game if feels like you have barrier to do everything. Not enough resources, time, reserarch or even room to build. A room isn't a room unless you fill the corners. Why? So we have to spend extra resources? A room has to be a certain size, it has to have certain things to qualify. A dining room needs a cook station, but no table or chairs? Wouldn't that be a kitchen? You can't move anything once built, you have to destroy it then rebuild, losing resources, which are precious early-on. Hopefully they add moving items around like in Rimworld. Want to use a staff? Maybe have some heals or a flame power? Sorry you have to play a melee or bow until you research staffs. Now that you did, can you just make a wooden stick (staff)? Nope, you need to research how to grind bones to powder then research creating bone meal or some stuff to use in the staff crafting - it's tiring. All for a spell that makes you go 'that's it?' It all grind and downsides with very little payoff. I did laugh that my Elf has 'Elf hater' as a trait. I like pixel graphics but these are the 'low-res' ones, not much animation or detail, hard to tell what things are by looking at them, hard to distinguish characters, it's ok though. The bones of a great game are here despite my negativity. I can see why lots of people like it I might with enough time if I stick with it but it get annoying to play rather than enjoyable.
Very fun game! Rimworld-like. If you like Rimworld style games, you'll like this one. This adds interesting new mechanics that it differentiates itself from Rimworld, which is a good thing. The only thing I dislike is the pixel graphics, but that's always been a thing for me. Despite that however, I still very much enjoy playing the game and feel I've only scratched the surface. If a pixel game (which I HATE) can draw me in, I consider the game to be very well done. The design, sound, mechanics, exploration, building, are all done very well. These devs are off to an amazing start. Also, no bugs so far, which is quite impressive for early access.
Game Auto starts on Hard, and its a real struggle. I would go ahead and start on normal, first, it give the game more main character vibes where you're not struggling to kill a single pack of rats to get almost no reward. Normal feels more like Rimworld with a fantasy dungeon twist. very fun
Really fun and good gameplay loop. Couple of things which aren't very intuitive (e.g trading, room creation) but you get the hang of it eventually. Will be fun to see how it holds up in the later game. Base building is simple but complex at the same time. An option to move stuff would be nice. Exploration is fun but tense. Required for resources so worth getting good at. I think it'll really shine in a few months when tutorial videos can clear up the annoying parts at the beginning of the game. Overall great so far.
