Albeit sad, that is the message of the story. It's tough for a mother fox to take care of her babies because humans keep destroying everything around you. At first you're fishing in the water and hunting mice and it's easy to keep your babies fed, but food becomes scarcer, there's danger around every corner. Every step you take towards hopefully getting somewhere feels futile, but you have no other option. One misjudgement could be the difference between you having all your babies in the end, or not. I didn't find that part too hard. I had all mine through both playthroughs. But I did miss a food item or two and two skills so I had to replay so I could get those achievements. All in all a great story driven game. Did I cry? Absolutely. Was it worth it to play? I'd say so. There are zero voice lines in this, but you feel every emotion. Knowing that in a world where everything and everyone wants to kill you, it was nice to see a few friendly faces.

Highly recommend this game, especially if you're sensitive, empathetic, or even just a little fond of animals. It will definitely NOT make you cry like a baby at 5 pm on a Friday or have you questioning your attachment to a (beautifully animated) fox family in a fictional world, that's definitely not predicting a possible, yet very terrifying future. In fact, you'll feel nothing but absolute joy, especially after the ending.

Ouch... I cried with this game, and I will never forget it. It might look like a simple game, and it is mostly, but it does such a good job at delivering its message, the game mostly consists of nights where you go out to hunt to feed your cubs and then you rest, but sometimes if you're out still in the morning humans will try to hunt you. A story about the conservation of species and natural environments that should not be ignored, genuinely beautiful.

Don't pay attention to the short time I spent playing the game. I bought Endling on sale, but my computer couldn't handle it, so I had to make a refund. However, the game intrigued me enough that I purchased the mobile version, which I successfully completed. And here I am, back to this game on Steam, gathering my thoughts to finally write a review... The game is remarkable for addressing a highly relevant topic: humanity's relationship with nature. We, as humans, often exploit our intellectual superiority to the point of becoming blind to and destroying the beauty of the world around us. Endling tells the story of the last fox on Earth, who fights for survival day by day, night by night — both for herself and her cubs. Over time, the world becomes increasingly engulfed by the destructive force of human indifference. Watching this unfold, you realize just how right the game is. We have no other planet like this one. We live here and now, able to see, hear, and contemplate the miracle before us — life. We are blessed to witness all these animals around us, to admire their uniqueness and exquisite beauty. We see them today, but perhaps tomorrow we won't be able to if we continue to blindly destroy these lives. Just because we are smarter and stronger doesn't mean we should deny them the right to live and play their role in the ecosystem. Something needs to open people's eyes. Endling does an excellent job of that. I wish for this game to reach everyone who is still able to hear. Play it and do something good for the world. Make the world a better place today than it was yesterday. Don't be so clever you forget to be kind.

So I just finished this game... before anyone buys it, it is NOT a cutesy game. I did everything right and kept all my pups alive and still sobbed at the ending. </3 Absolutely amazing game though, I loved playing it
