Much technically tighter than Gedonia 1 even in it's current state (2 being in early access vs 1 being full released). 2 feels like it has a stronger visual identity with the new art style, leaning into more of a WOW/Torchlight 2 aesthetic and basically severing any lingering comparisons to The Bloodline and other games using that basic asset pack. You can still see the Gedonia 1 DNA pretty much everywhere if you know what to look for though. While it technically works better under the hood and gets rid of a lot of the weird loading and asset streaming issues the first game has, I can't help but feel that its actually lost some amount of mechanical complexity in its skill trees. It looks like a lot of them have been cut and consolidated, with some very noticeable missing ones from Gedonia such as Holy (whose healing role has been roled into Nature) and Blood (whose staple melee sustain passives are now just part of the melee skill tree at tier 3, though you can apparently only have one passive active at a time compared to Gedonia 1 where you could have all of them and become nigh unkillable if you kept spamming attacks and avoiding one shots). I'm a bit torn on the merits of this decision given the combat is tighter than Gedonia 1 but the inherent jankiness of it and the way a lot of the skills factored into and compounded on that jank were unironically a good chunk of the fun in that game. Which is to say I guess, that combat here feels cleaner, but also a little more sterile. One positive change from the aforementioned skill gutting and consolidation is that crafting skills no longer have trees to them at all, instead you can begin crafting from the moment you start the game and will improve your skill in that category as you use it. While this is a net-positive for most of the crafting skills and cuts down on a good amount of skill point sink bloat Gedonia 1 had, it is a bit of a step back for cooking specifically given you seem to no longer be able to freestyle cook and make custom meals. Then again custom meals in Gedonia 1 do not stack and contribute heavily to inventory bloat so... idk. I'm a bit weirded out by how the enemy health scaling seems to shoot up by a full order of magnitude in just like, ten levels. A level 4 mob here might have an average of 150-250 hp while a level 14 comes packing over 1,000, meanwhile your damage by that level really has not scaled at a comparable rate so the enemies ends up getting more spongey as you progress through the zones. I'm not sure if this is a side-effect of the new co-op focus or just weird early access balancing stuff. I honestly kinda expected there to be some type of party scaling for enemy hp like how monster hunter does it, since giving them so much health makes sense when there's a party of 2-4 (and even with the inflated HP it was still manageable as a solo warrior build at equal level abusing hit and run tactics and knockdown, if a bit tedious). The story, or what snippets of it are in the game currently, has greatly improved both in the quality of the characterization and narrative, and the cutscene presentation compared to Gedonia 1. I was left especially interested to see where it will go in the future (heh) after the second major mission. Gedonia 1 had my curiosity for over a hundred hours. This one has my interest. No rating yet, but I'll be watching this one's career.

Its going to be even better than the first one! Lot less janky too. But still has its charm.... :/ Has tons of improvements, better graphics and systems are more fleshed out and you can teell the dev learned some hoopla. Its great to see something different on the market too. While most RPGs are stuck in a fairly narrow box, this dev is not afraid to throw things at the wall and see what sticks. The magic in Gedonia is tons of fun, lots of spells and utility stuff too. Gedonia 2 does it even better than the first. The stat system gives me a reason to start a new playthrough or just hack it... Cant wait for this one to get finished. Its a solid step up from the first already. Which if you have not played, i do suggest. Was a great game also.

120 hours into v0.2 Overview: World of Warcraft meets Fable and makes a baby This game has action. Combat uses the old 1-2-3 lockout-animation attack style. Enemies are not just basic, you have some which can charge to, leap on, or shadowstep behind you. You have enemies that summon minions, or launch magic spells (and they change their spells up!) There are those enemies that just run and face-tank you. Combat is a bit clunky, but that is expected with animation lock-outs (your character enters a cinematic choreographed move when you press the attack key, during which you cannot move, change direction, etc. You lose control of your character during the animations, and honestly I hate that mechanic). There is a story that evolves with your choices. This game has layers behind alternatives. You can finish a quest via 3, or sometimes 5 different endings. Outcomes? It depends on your basic stats. Are you strong enough? Or your character background, do you understand that ranch life? Or it depends on your crafting skill. Ever made a fancy meal? Or it depends on your talent points. Are you the dark wizard? It seriously makes me want to try EVERY possible combination. Gedonia 2 has SO MUCH replay-ability, it is insane! Doing a quest again never quite feels like the same quest you did before, because you can complete it 5 different ways. Customize characters. The appearance, big small, hair style beards, face eyes etc. There are different types of kit, cloth, leather, and heavy. Different weapons. Ranged, melee, magic. 2 hand, 1 hand, shields, spears, axes, hammers, staves, knives, bows, swords Balance your starting attributes, you can max 1, and be ok at another, or be average at all. Background story gives you a different startup, and allows certain choices later when you meet NPC with similar faction. Leveled zones and gear When you start, you work through levels 1 to 10 mostly in the same zone (some dungeons). Then as you become more powerful, the quests lead you into the next zone(s) (10-20) For most character configurations, this is a very smooth transition. It is still alpha game version! Amazing that the quest progression and leveling is so well balanced already. Sure, there is a LOT of content in development. You will see typos. You will find visual anomalies. But little by little, you will notice improvements. This developer knows wtf they are doing! Minions. Summoned? Check. Hired Companions? Check. You need a party for a dungeon? YOU are the party. YOU can have a team. Put points into leadership, or magic. Hire or summon a squad. I have had up to 8 minions + companions, PLUS my actual character. A boss with adds is laughable when your squad steps up on that scene. Gedonia 2 really makes team management a super fun option, since you can be the sit back and buff your party type, or the point of the assault and your minions are your backup. You can even equip your companions with gear, to improve their combat or set their specific fighting style. Like, hire a minion, give them a magic staff, and they hang back and shoot magic at enemies. Give them a sword? They also get a shield and will keep aggro and tank for you. Give them an axe, they will melee DPS, or range DpS with a bow. Solo? Sure. You want to use the terrain and out-maneuver the enemy? It is not always easy, but a lone wolf likes a tough life. You can be a stealthy rogue, picking apart an enemy squad. A ranger atop a hill, taking a stand and raining arrows. A tanky metal monster with a devastating weapon that cuts swaths trough multiple enemies. Even a mage that is protected with magical barriers, and calls elements to decimate their foe. When you focus your talents onto your solo character, they far exceed any hireling. Solo will force you to suffer lock-out animations though. If you are trying to heal yourself in combat, and you are solo, you still have lock-out animations for spell casting, or attacking, and you are probably getting hit while locked-in-place. Solo is more challenging, but still very possible. Conclusion If playing solo, you have to be strategic with every button-press (think several steps ahead). Using companions and hirelings your style is more tactical (reactionary). With so many quests with alternative endings and choices, and so many character options, Gedonia 2 easily offers over 100 hours of engaging gameplay, and it will only get better. This game is a steal at $15 It will get better, is getting better, and I wish the developer all the best in this. I look forward to see the next update, and if you read this far, thank you. Please remember the game is in alpha / early development. There will be bugs, there will be typos, but those are temporary. Very much looking forward to version 0.3!

This game is rough around the edges, but shows immense potential. It feels like World of Warcraft Classic meets Fable 1 in many ways, and it has that mid 2000's game charm to it that was lost over the years. The jank of course, is part of that charm, partly because I grew up with these kinds of games. The hero customization is good - I like being able to cross-class, mix and match skills in my games. The story is not yet finished but I have observed the devs working continuously to patch the game and I choose to support them by purchasing the game. I hope it lives to its full potential, we're all winners should that be the case.

Gedonia 2 is interesting, it feels very classic WOW in its looks, items, and some of it's features, but comes a bit short in its presentation of them. Pros: It is really fun, especially with friends: There are a ton of things to do and discover that the game doesn't show you at face value, and many of the skills unlock unique parts of the game that you wouldn't notice without having multiple friends with different specializations. Choices matter (kind of): Many quests have multiple different options, many of which require certain skill spreads or certain unlocks to be able to 'progress' down that path. On a broad sense, the choices don't seem to affect the overarching story, but they each wrap themselves up in different ways that actually feel like your choices did affect the outcome; in this i feel it does make you feel like what you say or do matters. Tons of build diversity: Even within certain builds, there are many ways that you can specialize to feel strong in different ways. Do you want your warrior to pump damage or deal bleed/poison/DoTs? That's your call; Maybe even a blend of the two. Your initial skill choices allow you to flex into multiple different options that make you feel like you have unique perks that are actually impactful, while also making you regret (in a good way) not specializing differently. Crafting is impactful, But rare gear is meaningful: Crafting is simple, get *Material you need*; use said material to make some gear; have an 80%/40%/0% of making that gear give you a level based on the 'tier' of it. As you slowly level up your skill in whatever you are working on, new gear becomes available. What is nice about it is that gear is not useless; it feels like getting a few levels in whatever skill feeds your build and unlocks gear that actually makes you feel stronger, but fighting some bosses and getting some unique loot from them will likely replace one or two of those gear slots with something better, but not exclusively stronger. This makes grinding for skill levels fun to unlock things you know will be improvements, but not in a way that makes you feel overpowered, as well as not in a way where it's just a side goal of useless β™₯β™₯β™₯β™₯ you'll never use. Subjective opinion: Voice acting/Writing: A large amount of the dialog in the game is "voice acted". I put that in quotes because it seems like a few friends got drunk together and acted out multiple different characters with slightly different tones but generally the same vibe. The voice acting is very non-serious even with many serious undertones in the writing, which may turn people off of the game, but did the opposite for me. It's just so β™₯β™₯β™₯β™₯β™₯β™₯β™₯ stupid that I enjoy it, but i can see how many others wouldn't like as getting immersed into the story will be difficult with how goofy the lines are spoken. Negatives: Buggy: The game is certainly a bit buggy, some quests not properly completing and duplicating is something we have noticed while playing. It doesn't really negatively affect the game itself, but seeing the main story quest 'active' in multiple different spots while also knowing you've already done those quests is a bit off-putting. Combat is 'Jank': This part is the hardest to to really explain, but combat just feels weird. It works and has a level of satisfaction to it, but reading an enemies attacks, trying to play around it, or simply trying to be intelligent while fighting doesn't seem to be as important as just 'mash β™₯β™₯β™₯β™₯ and hit shift to dodge extremely telegraphed abilities'. It feels similar to classic WOW combat but just not as clean. The game feels 'Unpolished': Similar to my combat statement, this one is hard for me to describe, but the game just feels a little off in many of the ways you interact with it. I was able to glitch through several barriers that skipped entire quest zones, and some things just feel off as you're interacting with them. Overall: This game sets out well on what I believe it wants to do, and many of the problems the game has aren't problems that make it not fun, but that when ironed out will make it feel better as a whole. It's like a burger and meal that you enjoy eating, but would have been better if the cheese wasn't placed a quarter off the side of it, several of the fries were a bit more burnt than you'd have liked, and you really didn't need THAT much ice in your root beer. It still goes down well, but it could be better. I recommend this game to people who are okay feeling like the game is not quite ready, but also that there is enough content and fun in it that you won't hate or get bored of it. You will have a ton of little things to do without feeling overwhelmed, but all of it needs a bit more TLC to really shine. If you are okay with goofy voice acting while the dialog itself is meant to be 'serious'; like the idea of graphics, crafting, and combat feeling similar to Classic WoW; and want an open world RPG where you can kind of run around and β™₯β™₯β™₯β™₯ around, this game will meet your needs. As long as dealing with odd bugs, a bit of jank, and writing that contradicts itself between the written statements and how they are presented; you will enjoy this game. I would also recommend finding friends to play with, as the game is certainly elevated with them rather than without.
