Let’s put it this way.. I’ve owned this game for 31hrs and I’ve played 21hrs. I often struggle to focus on games these days and when I have time to play (which is rare) I feel guilty I’m not doing something productive. This is the first time in years I’ve been sucked in so hard without a care for anything else. So so addictive, so much fun, I love this game and the fact it’s an early release just adds excitement for what else is to come.

While I do like the game and am recommending it there are a few caveats. At the moment the game is really more focusing on the base management, which isn't a bad thing. It just means, that the planes are more of a side-story thing/more another cog in the management sim, rather than a main part of it. Personally I'd love it if the planes were more of a focus.

Ground of Aces is a nice cosy Sim/City Builder type of game done in a comic style visual that suits the game pretty well. Your goal is to repair and restore an airfield to working order. Not only do you need to plan ahead for runways, hangars and storage area's but also buildings and farming to support the base staff. Your staff have various roles to be assigned but to keep them happy they need to be looked after. To look after your staff you'll also need to provide food, water, leisure time, medical attention and somewhere to sleep. For the military side of things you need to set up suitable runways and hangars to operate aircraft from. Flying out on operations keeps the brass happy and allows more resources to be delivered weekly but also to defend your airfield as the Luftwaffe can and will send occasional strikes. Ground defences can also be added to your airfield as part of the weekly deliveries and require personal to operate. I have only come across one bug/issue so far after the 15ish hours of game play. A runway i was building was bombed and a couple of tree's in the middle went from being harvested to destroyed. Despite swapping the command to remove them the ground crew never went back until the game was saved and reloaded. The only gripe I really have so far is making bricks. The craft station being of very limited use at this stage of development as the sand and clay deposits have finite amounts which is fine but only sand can be delivered along with the bricks themselves making the crafting station useless for now. There are somethings I'd like to see in future such as seasons, random weather or if airbases are in other theatre's the aircraft would be only ones available during that area. Overall I'm having fun and looking forward to seeing how the game goes.

A very cozy looking and enyojable game, BUT. Please make it so that i do not have to click on every object i want to place individually. I do not want to click on a bed and rotate each one 3 times when trying to put 20 of them down in my big barracks. Please make thee object stay selected and rotated even after you have placed it, like you have with floors for example. And if the development team isnt planning on making damaged building repairable (making me build everything by hand after a raid) then at least make the characters run to the air defences when the alarm is sounded. Random bushes not providing any resource but preventing you from placing a farming zone on that tile is also quite furstrating. And for logistics purposes, airstrip orientation would be very helpful. Oh and crew members just falling over from exhaustion and getting injured is quite annoying, when we have no way of seeing how much work we are putting on the team compared to their abilities. That being said, even with all those things bothering me, the game is very playable and very fun to play. Id definetly recommend it to anyone who enjoys basee building and resource managing.
