Jade Empire is probably the weirdest RPG BioWare has made (MDK2 still takes the cake for oddest game by them), It's oddly charming in a way which is likely due to it's vivid art style, As a big fan of Wuxia, Xianxia and Murim entertainment Jade Empire still manages to hit a good amount of the feelings each of those genres give whilst still being its own thing, Jade Empire builds off Chinese Mythology very well and nothing showcases that more than its wonderful main story, The Companions are a delight which shockingly good voice acting. Combat Wise Jade Empire delivers on that front as well, It's a blast to toy around with the different styles, One major issue with combat is how unbalanced it is, Some styles are completely overpowered (Leaping Tiger) compared to the others and do in fact make the game a cake walk, I found most styles to be fun though so this wasn't an issue i couldn't fix myself by just enjoying a different style. Sadly this game does suffer from what a lot of older games on steam also suffer from: Not Working Immediately, You will likely have to fiddle around with it and there is a plethora of guides on the steam community tab on how to fix it! (10 Minutes Top is my estimate) There is also GOG which likely serves it up without any issues at all. I would recommend checking out the mods for it, They may not be extensive but they are solid and do enhance the experience quite well. Overall Jade Empire is a great BioWare game that suffered from a poorly timed launch onto Xbox quite literally right before the 360 came out, I truly believe if it released on Xbox 360 instead of the Xbox we would of had a Mass Effect or Dragon Age level series, One of my personal biggest "Gaming What Ifs". RIP BioWare & Ty for all the good times, Lets hope the IPs get sold to someone better than EA.
Pretty good martial arts focused action rpg game (and i mean actual rpg with dialogues and choices) - Story, characters, dialogues and the world is pretty good. Pretty much why you wanna play this game. - Combat is a bit shallow, pretty easy to exploit and not much depth to the styles, you will be doing basic attacks and strong attacks, combined with some spells throughout the game. - It's a 2005 game so there are some jank stuff, like camera going crazy and only way to fix it, reload a save etc. didnt really bother me that much. If you decide to buy the game, do these steps before launching the game, so it works - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3282115143&tscn=1783088773 Huge credits to Xafron Chi for the guide above, it helped perfectly and didnt need to download any mods.
Fantastic game, but to get to launch I had to follow these instructions I got from Reddit: * Copy and paste "steam.dll" from your Steam or Steam Library Folder and put it directly into "SteamLibrary\\SteamAppps\\common\\Jade Empire". **If your game still doesn't launch but the "fail to find" error is fixed, this is what you do.** 1. Open notepad. 2. Don't write anything into it. 3. Save it as "SystemInformation.xml" 1. It must be saved as a blank notepad. Do not put anything in it. 2. Click "Save As Type", it must read "All Files". 3. Save this file in "SteamLibrary\\SteamAppps\\common\\Jade Empire\\data" 4. This should launch the game.
