Fun, just like Luck Be a Landlord but with more cutesy graphics and sound

Luckland is a simple game derivative of similar slot-machine-like games such as 'luck be a landlord'. The demo initially caught my attention because of how polished and content-heavy the game seemed to be, I'm not talking of polish of the interface which is fully functional but doesn't do a great job of explaining things, and with poor english translation. But the game works well enough that it's easy to understand, very addictive and makes you want to progress, There is a huge potential of improvement once you understand all the intricate interactions between objects. There is a ton of different objects sets, and a lot of hand crafted level rules, each with different challenges to overcome. I found it rather impressive how a game built on slot-machines manages to actually involve strategy and has so many different ways to play and solve the levels obstacles. As I said there is a ton of content and the gameplay is slightly different from other 'landlord' clones I've played, and I think it's the best variation built on this genre. The graphics are pretty nice, despite being completely in the casual/mobile game genre, they just work. At the end of the day, the passive nature of the gameplay will start to weight heavily, and this isn't a game with infinite replayability. But depending on your involvment with the achievements, it should provide anywhere from 12 to 100 hours of honest distraction. Also keep in mind this is a slot machine game, and so it's a time-sink. Don't play it if you have poor control over your game/gambling addiction because it's very easy to spend the night on this. The store page as a whole for the game is a bit misleading in a couple ways, and for that, i'd take points away from the score if it was a note out of 10, it's a chinese mobile port and it comes with some of the typical weakness they are prone to, but it is still a fully functional and pretty good game, even if it is very much designed like an old flash game. So the game is prone to some slight level of jank. The gameplay is definitely like to be a landlord or balatro, but the map you see is not a roguelike style map, but simply levels. It's a bit slow and superficial at first, but after you play enough, even if you are always pretty dependent on RNG, the game actually has an unexpectedly respectable ammount of strategical depth to the choices you do make. More than i expected out of a small mobile game "roguelike" from China who lets be honest, floods the market with a lot of low quality games especially in these genres. I'll try to explain how the game works: If you aren't familiar with the genre, it is basically a slot machine deck builder, where you select symbols that will have different effects, selecting the correct ones will allow you to get more score, you can keep or remove a certain ammount of symbols per level, with which you try to beat the score requirements. The deck are reset between levels. Try to look for symbols that synergizes. The MAP: The game is basically made up of unlockable levels, and the only real difference between nodes and levels is starting loadout and difficulty. As you unlock more nodes, different decks can get added to a level, which it randomly selects them from a pool of all your unlocked decks. So outside of unlocking more content, you can view the nodes as simply starting loadouts, rather than actual progression. Increasing the difficulty (selecting a higher level on a node) will rewards you with either more nodes, more decks, or some upgrades but the latter seems to be mainly exclusive to the node they are earned on. The end game is simply reaching the last level of any node you feel like playing. In sum, the map is not something that happens during the run, but the selection menu itself to start a run, which is a short level with a few "deadlines". As for the GAMEPLAY: While you do not have that much agency over how things play out, the game still has a fairly decent ammount of depth and challenge for what it is. At first you have only the starting decks and there isn't much variety in playing the different levels, but as you unlock more decks by discovering nodes, the game will give you more potential variety to what decks are added to a level. A level basically is made up of one preselected deck, and then 3 more random ones amongst those you have unlocked (deselecting and reselecting a difficulty will reroll the decks as shown above the reward window), plus universal pieces. Each node, and as you increase the difficulty, will have a variety of boons and challenges unique to it, to the point where the highest level isn't a free win. The RNG is well balanced enough to not be overly stacked against you, but still forcing you to make interesting choices instead of relying on fail proof strategies. While you usually focus on one deck in a level, you may be forced to diversify, and some decks do interact with eachothers in interesting ways sometimes, albeit uncommonly so. There are, however, some rather unbalanced decks/strategies.

This game has so much content it's crazy with mostly interesting variation, I just needed to get past the phone game aestetic and the lack of tutorials for faction specific mechanics. Edit after 100%ing: Holy crap is this game fun! Almost every genre (faction) feels viable. Only con is that there isn't more synergies going on between them. Some of the achievements are evil as hell Funfactor 10/10 even if the presentation is looking 5/10
