An excellent diamond with a big flaws. First about the pros: +Audio and visual is extremely beautiful, Unreal Engine is used in all its glory. +A wide window of possibilities for building. +Not useless crafting. You can feel the character development. +They did not copy the weapon upgrade system from DS, which does not tie the player to the selected weapon and allows for more flexible build changes. +A connected, beautiful and interesting map to explore. +Honest combat. +Interesting lore. +Good optimization for a project on UE. Looking up and down often leads to a ragged frametime, but not a single crash or serious FPS drop. There are only one serious bug from what was found, only a softlock in the second phase of the final boss when the Phoenix ability is triggered, which is fixed by restarting. From the minors: eye lasers sometimes remain forever visually, once the floor did not break on the lighthouse until a restart. That's all, for a modern project this is a great success. I can't write this down as either a pros or a cons: If Nine Sols is Sekiro from the world of metroidvanias, then this game is Dark Souls. In the first one it is impossible to pump up to the complete humiliation of mobs, here it is possible. Now about the flaws: -Frustratedly small number of checkpoints in the third third of the game. Why in two massive locations, which according to the lore are controlled by the coven of witches, there is not a single witch stone, but in the sewers in front of them and on the mountain of witches itself they are? And oh god... the only "bonfire" in the entire final location, each try of the final boss requires: to go up the elevator and overcome three floors of the temple bypassing mobs. Very exciting (not). Even in DS1 they weren't so harsh, I think they should have focused not on the outdated Miyazaki, but on the newer one, in which stakes of Marika were invented. -Inconsistent decisions regarding punishment for mistakes in platforming: if you are sawed by a giant saw - a black screen and a return to the beginning of the segment, fell into the abyss - death and going to a distant checkpoint. At the same time, in the local segments "on a timer" death means a return to the portal without losing "experience" currency. Thanks for all the indulgences, but the rest causes the same frustration as the first point of minuses, and in a combo with the lack of checkpoints it turns into a frustrating fatality for the sake of interest not to drop a walkthrough. Result: A good game is not without flaws , and flaws can be fixed with patches. I don't understand the blaming about the EULA, such agreements exist in every second game, where the developer wants to understand what he should fix based on the collected data. It's better to write about real shortcomings, and not about the theft of your "priceless" data... Why you don't blame Baldur's Gate 3 about showing stats about romances and another player choices, that you agreed to give them with their EULA?

How to prevent this games russian spyware from collecting your information: Go to advanced windows defender firewall. Go to outbound rules Make a new outbound rule Click on "program" Have the program path lead to the games EXE file Block the connection. And thats all you have to do. One of the big reasons why alot of companies are trying to make their games always online, even for singleplayer games, is so you simply cant turn off the games connection to the internet so it cant release your information. Other then that, i've actually been enjoying the game, and its world! Alot of people has compared its gameplay to dark souls, but its gear progression has a much higher emphasis on crafting, and finding blueprints then it does finding new gear, and that might take a little getting used to. My only real complaint is that there's absolutely no difference in moveset between each weapon, so THAT is probably gonna get stale for me as i play the game.

This game is fun and I do reccomend it, but pc players should be aware that there is no ultrawide support, and based on the discord comments there will never be. They are saying that it's a design choice. Still a good game, but this is something you should definitely know.

One of the better soulslike metroidvanias. The story is fairly engaging and coherent with actual voice acting, which is often not something you see in the genre. Controls are responsive and enemy animations are easy to read which makes combat not frustrating Exploration is fun in a soulslike kind of way, you don't just find upgrades like in metroid, but weapons, materials and key items (like expansion for your flask, for example). Plus you can get a dude to join your camp, that helps track stuff in areas you've visited (you unlock maps just by visiting them, but you "color" them with that guy, after that you get icons of stuff you both found and missed). Progression and RPG part are both fairly simple and not just dumb ripoff of dark souls (there are attributes you upgrade, but there are also passives and a better separation between classes). Also you can set difficulty to your liking (not just easy, medium, hard, but you actually control different aspects of difficulty with sliders, which offers great variation based on your liking) Plus there's a demo, which gives a very good idea of what to expect (except for classes, cause there's only 1 available in demo), just go play it.

It's rad. I've got around 10 hours in the preview build and am excited to see the rest of it. Audio and visual presentation is great. Theres a bunch of fun weirdo characters to meet and the voice acting is really good. Solid level and world design. Good combat. Good build craft. It slaps. It runs well on my steamdeck (smallest and least powerful, several years old model) other than eating the battery pretty fast.
